Not a DCH/ZNMD/Rock On, but Kho Gaye is the current state and needs to be acknowledged.
TreeFiddy5327 December 2023
Dil Chahta hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are two of the most iconic Bollywood films in the past 25 years. Did the makers think Kho Gaye would be 3rd film to join the ranks of those two? Dunno, time will tell, but for now, watch this film if
  • You're a fan of DCH/ZNMD/Rock On and like watching movies about friendship
  • You're tired of over-the-top action movies that have released this year
  • You're a 20something and have a mostly 'Gen-Z life'

Acting: Ananya Panday - her best work yet, happy that she got a role to showcase what she can do after all that backlash and nepotism fiasco. Adarsh Gourav - What a different role from his previous works. Wouldn't have expected him to pull off this role with such ease. Siddhant Chaturvedi - hit/miss but still convincing in what was written for him.

The film was well shot. Apparently, the music is popular too....? I wouldn't know. It's different from the commercial mirch masala movies that only offer escapism and machismo. If any of ^ appeals to you, you should watch this film...with your friends.

That said.....the audience of this film will likely fall into two buckets: 1 - A group who will likely that DCH/Zindagi were a class apart and Kho Gaye comes nowhere close, but will still agree with the messaging.

2 - A group that will find it to be some of the most relatable content out there and possible look back at it in 10-15 years and cry their eyes out like group 1 does about DCH/Zindagi, as if it was written about their own lives.

Kho Gaye seems to have been made for a specific audience and does it well. That said, it does try very hard to be very relatable and it shows. Where DCH/ZNMD won was that these were merely stories of friends living their lives and didn't necessarily have stuff specifically written in so that the audience can relate to. You can tell Kho Gaye is trying too hard to be relevant - not that there's anything wrong with it, just didn't feel smoothly written. The songs, dunno, nowhere close to being as iconic as stuff from first two, DCH especially, this includes the lyrics. A Gen Z is likely to look at the characters, maybe 2/3 and say, these are rich people issues and I don't have the privilege of this. You can't necessarily say that about the first two movies even though we had Australia and Bagvati; if you know, you know.

That said, I'd much rather watch this film over some of the other stuff that has released this year. In my books, Kho Gaye > Pathaan, Jawan, Leo, King of Kotha, Salaar, etc. While I didn't enjoy HOW the story is being told, the WHAT is being told is relevant, it's the world we live in and the messaging needs to be acknowledged.

Watch it with your friends. :)

Refreshing Tale of Modern Times and Friendship in the insecure world of Social Media
BlackHawk112026 December 2023
Liked this one. Social Media today works on 3 I's - Instant, Insecurity and I (Narcissism) and the film captures all the 3 themes pretty well.

Strong performances and refreshing tale of modern friendship is well captured after Dil Chahta Hai and ZNMD. Always have been a fan of Excel Entertainment, Zoya Akhtar and Rima Kagti's work hence the film was certainly a good watch, quite relevant with the themes of today.

Adarsh Gaurav as Neil shines through and has a pretty emotional upheaval among the 3 which is very well portrayed on screen. The character has a roller-coaster arc which is well justified by his talent.

Have been a fan of Siddhant Chaturvedi since Gully Boy and this feels no different - the guy delivers a wonderful performance, especially the dialogue towards the end that shows his prowess as an actor.

Ananya Pandey, usually bubbly, is a charm on screen and portrays her character pretty well, which is a difficult mix of displaying insecurity yet be confident. She is the mediator between the extremes of the other 2 characters which she justifies very proficiently.

First part is good and it is all relate-able, though not in the exact manner or form. The part after the halfway mark feels a bit of drag as interest does lose, primarily because its a predictable end but the message the film is trying to give is loud and clear.

Generations, be it millenials or Gen Y or Gen Z should all take away something from this film and remember that at the end of the day, in this world of instant and insecurities and comparision, it is important to be grateful, be close to friends and smile!

Millennial Drama Gets Lost in Social Media Maze
draul-8516230 December 2023
The story feels aimless and meanders without a clear focus. Kho Gaye Hum Kahan hits some relatable notes about millennial angst and social media fakery, but stumbles over its own shallowness. While the performances are decent, the story lacks depth and feels a bit preachy at times. It's not a bad way to spend an evening, but don't expect to be blown away. Overall, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is a mixed bag. It offers some fleeting moments of truth and entertainment, but ultimately feels forgettable. Worth a watch if you're looking for a lighthearted take on millennial woes, but don't expect a profound cinematic experience.

The perfect watch for the end of the year!
shivg27 December 2023
*Kho gaye hum kahan* is a proper flashback to the today's world and generation we sre living in. It has good music, a strong storyline, great characters, nice humor, and a message to all the people like us who are too much into the world of social media now, that we have lost our own identity, our own pleasures, our own life. The movie makes us question our choices, our daily routine, in a very subtle way. The movie is about three friends who have their own battles going on, one who is a gym freak, another who is a creative business mind, while the last one, the funny guy, and their traumas of life. It felt complete to me, the way they have shown the struggles of life, each one facing their own demons, it is very relatable, I just wanted some deep dialogues to be honest, that would have made this one a much better watch. The songs are great, not memorable, but with deep lyrics indeed. The last 20 minutes are very intense, and it will make you cry, if you have a past trauma. The first half is like a honeymoon period of everyone's life, with small inconveniences, but the movie escalates to the dark reality of everyday struggle, really quickly. People who have faced them in real life, will relate more, and those who don't, I hope you never do, but someday you will. It is a perfect watch, to make real life resolutions, and see how beautiful life is.

Loved the film
tarungoyal-3696026 December 2023
Arjun Varain Singh's directorial venture 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan' is a testament to his skill and vision, beautifully encapsulating the essence of relationships in the digital era. The film supporting actors will look like equally important as Ananya, Siddhant and Adarsh, all of them has given such a wonderful performance and offers a deep dive into how social media shapes our perceptions and interactions. The storytelling is both engaging and enlightening, offering a nuanced look at the complexities of modern life. It's a film that not only entertains but also initiates important conversations about the digital age.

The trio of Ananya, Adarsh and Siddhant worked their magic!
SoumikBanerjee199627 December 2023
A modern story for today's people, particularly those who live and breathe in the vast, demanding world of social media and the Internet.

"Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" is a sincere, sympathetic account of their triumphs, difficulties, and stories in general, while also putting emphasis on the positive aspects of these virtual platforms as well as the negative impacts they may have on our lives.

Our ever-shrinking attention span, the constant craving for validation, and the lack of emotional connection are all challenges to which I feel we can all identify, at least to some extent.

Furthermore, the script is quite effective here as are the characters, you grow so attached to them, their private lives, and I must say, whomever had thought of casting Ananya, Adarsh, and Siddhant as the lead trio deserves to be applauded.

Not only did they gel so well, but they also appeared and acted like real-life best friends, with absolutely no trace of superficiality anywhere, so we ended up loving and rooting for the bond and friendship they shared.

A good movie credit definitely should go to this amazing debutant director Arjun Varain Singh. The real talent of any artist is not revealed unless the director is good. And Arjun has shown very clearly that he is a very talented director. Be it Ananya pandey, Adarsh Gaurav or Siddhant Chaturvedi it is everyone's best performance till date. The story is very hard hitting and this bew generation people will really connect to the story. Unbelievable movie ❤❤❤pure goosebumps...mindblowing story telling, great bgms, awesome music.....Bollywood waale aise film Kab baanayegey😊😊😊😊.....It's actually a good Movie 🔥

Works as a modern-day take on relationships, but lacking greater depth. [+62%]
arungeorge1326 December 2023
The film hits the mark as a reflection of the shallowness in modern-day relationships and oversharing on social media. However, there aren't any standout performances or particularly memorable scenes. Adarsh Gourav is easily the top performer in the trio of protagonists, rounded off by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. The overall goodness in the writing (credits given to four people - Arjun Varain Singh who also directs, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Yash Sahai) especially comes through in the depiction of the trio's friendship. Even when they aren't the most likeable set of humans, the screenplay doesn't have to try too hard to make us buy into the candid warmth they share.

Each of the protagonists gets a reasonably fleshed-out arc, and most of it has to do with their changing perception of relationships (whether it's with parents, colleagues, partners, and more). Neil (Adarsh Gourav) is unsure of his ongoing fling with a social media influencer, Imaad (Siddhant Chaturvedi) is heavily into one-night-stands, and Ahana (Ananya Panday) is struggling to come to terms with her unconfirmed break-up. The common thread that also binds the trio is their business plan, but since the writing places more focus on the relationships aspect, this doesn't really go anywhere other than being brought up as a trope to reunite them after things momentarily go south.

Though I wouldn't call them standouts, the lead performances are pretty solid; it helps that the writing revolves majorly around them. On the contrary, that could also be why almost all supporting acts feel one-note. This includes Imaad's business-minded father, Ahana's ex, Neil's parents, and his secret influencer-girlfriend. The only exception is Kalki Koechlin, who casually lights up the screen with her presence. Tanay Satam's visuals remind you of Gehraiyaan; I'm guessing it's mostly due to the Mumbai monsoons colour palette, which I really like. The song compositions are by a whole bunch of artistes, and they're the kind that makes you want to listen to, over and over. The 2h 15m runtime is good enough, as it doesn't feel overstretched or running out of creative fuel.

Effects of the digital age
debojyotichakraborty-2411626 December 2023
In the digital era, very few directors can give such a big slap on the digital platform. First of all, I would like to thank the makers.

The subject of the movie is very good and timely. There was a need for a movie on such a subject for a long time. How the digital generation is becoming isolated from society and creating an invisible wall around themselves. The most effect is that generation, that is what the movie showed.

I saw the good side that stand up comedy has been given so much space. With a smile, everyone in the society has pointed out the disease of today's society.

The acting, songs, BGM, cinematography in the movie are all highly commendable. But the hero of the film is the script. Impossibly beautiful. I was very reminded of the back mirror while watching the movie.

Highly recommended basically young generation.

Nothing special!
nishil-patel130 December 2023
As a modern story of life in an Indian city, the story lacked any kind of out-of-the-box thinking. In some ways it was boring and pointless. The only redemption was the quality of acting, which did not disappoint.

My rating is purely down to the quality of the acting.

There were times throughout the movie where the storyline could have been more explosive or more interesting but the producers decided to opt for a dull, predictable and often mediocre movie. The storyline could literally have been written on a page!

I would not watch this again or recommend to anyone. I don't quite understand the comments from others or whether we were watching the same thing.

The ending was cringy and and so unnecessary. Didn't add anything to the story as it was simply too late.

I didn't pick my phone up all through this!!
bikramsengupta26 December 2023
What a beaut!

Beautiful pacing, heartwarming narration and such sublime acting by the cast! Right from the 3 leads to the supporting actors, everyone was woven perfectly into the fabric of this story.

It's the kind of movie that holds your hand and walks across a sunset beach. A sunset beach you never knew existed, because you had your darned head up your phone's keister.

The music wasn't a show stealer, which was actually great! They worked so well with the moments and just enough so as not to pull too much attention away from the story itself.

AND this comes at such a great time.

All hearts :)

Good performances, undercooked plot
nikhilmanahs28 December 2023
Social media, tinder, influencer-culture have become ubiquitous. This movies attempts to showcase their detrimental effects and it's appreciable.

The plot seems to be written in a hurry to complete the script. Enough research hasn't been done in really understand what goes on today's world. This could have been much more in-depth analysis. Also lot of sub-plots seem inconsequential and hard to believe, example a pretty girl Ananya pandey chasing an ordinary guy.

The camaraderie between 3 friends is also lagging and falls short of making a mark for audience to accept that we are seeing story of 3 friends from school . There are hardly any moving sequences in the movie.

Performances wise all 3 actors have done very well . Specially, Adarsh Gourav is impressive.

In total this is a decent attempt but a lot more could have been done. It's exciting to see movies being made on relevant topics.

Pretty Lame & Boring Movie
honeywap27 December 2023
"Kho Gaye Hum Kahan," a film touted as a millennial exploration of friendship and identity, sadly stumbles under the weight of its own clichés and underwhelming execution. While it attempts to grapple with the anxieties of the digital age, the narrative itself falls victim to its own pitfalls, leaving viewers questioning what exactly they've lost, besides two precious hours.

Let's address the elephant in the room first: the cinematography and treatment. Your complaint about the "bad camera work" is certainly on point. Scenes lack cohesion, often feeling like a haphazard collection of Instagram-worthy vignettes rather than a well-crafted cinematic experience. This superficiality extends to the script as well, which is peppered with predictable plotlines and hollow dialogues. The "friends navigating adulthood" trope is trotted out again, only this time with the added garnish of influencer culture and digital angst. Unfortunately, the exploration of these themes remains disappointingly surface-level, offering no fresh insights or relatable nuances.

Ananya Panday, as the career-driven Ahana, delivers a one-note performance, failing to imbue the character with any depth or complexity. Siddhant Chaturvedi, as the struggling comedian Imaad, fares slightly better, showcasing fleeting moments of vulnerability and frustration. However, his repetitive cynicism and self-indulgent monologues soon grow tiresome.

It's Adarsh Gourav, as the quiet gym rat Neil, who shines through the mediocrity. He brings warmth and authenticity to his role, creating a character that feels grounded and relatable even amidst the film's artificiality. One wishes the script had delved deeper into his journey, offering a counterpoint to the shallowness of the other characters' lives.

The film's biggest failing lies in its inability to connect with its audience. The characters, despite their struggles, remain aloof and distant. Their privileged lives and constant quest for online validation generate little empathy or interest. The attempt to tackle millennial anxieties feels forced and superficial, resulting in a narrative that resonates primarily with the aesthetics of online trends rather than the genuine complexities of real-life experiences.

Ultimately, "Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" feels like a missed opportunity. A film about navigating the digital age should offer more than just stylish Instagram filters and predictable emotional beats. It should delve into the anxieties, disillusionment, and perhaps even the hidden beauty of our hyperconnected world. Sadly, "Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" remains lost in a maze of its own superficiality, failing to find its way to a compelling or insightful conclusion.

Refreshing, young and best
nairabh27 December 2023
Netflix movie KHO Gaye Hum Kahan directed by debutant director Arjun Varain Singh this movie is produced by Farhan Akthar written by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Arjun Singh starring Siddhanth Chaturvedi, Adarsh Gaurav, Ananya Pandey, Kalki Koechlin.

It's a typical Gen 'Z' movie relatable story about today's generation and how they are impacted with social media, how social media influences our life, how we start comparing our lifes with others looking at the social media updates be it Facebook or instagram.

Story is fresh , excellent direction and good music. A good social message is delivered at the end.

Songs are fresh and for a change loved this bollywood movie. It reminded me about Dil chahtha hey and Zindagi na milegi Dobara types movies.

The story is about 3 freinds (Siddharth, Adarsh and Ananya) they are young, confused, ambitious and like the Gen Z their life goes thru lots of ups and downs and emotional due to society pressures, past issues , relationships issues and social media impacts.

Performance wise all 3 actors were top notch their chemistry worked very well and they did a awesome job. Surprised to see Ananyas performance she nailed it .

This film is definitely aimed at a younger demographic but its realism and rawness in its portrayal make it an appealing watch for a large audience. Probably a film that won't ever get the appreciation it deserves but worth a watch for sure!

Worth watching this during the holiday season Highly recommend #ananyapanday #khogayehumkahanonnetflix #khogayehumkahan #SiddhantChaturvedi #AdarshGourav #netflixmovies #netflixrecommendations #hindimovie #moviereview.

I can say this in full confidence that this is one of the best performance by Ananya Pandey after Gehraiyaan..Sidhant Chaturvedi as always mesmerizing by his looks and for his acting skills we all know how good of an actor he is..Adarsh Gaurav we all have seen him in guns and gulab and have been appreciated for his performance in it and trust me you will love his performance in this too. Super star caste and super duper hit movie it is. This movie is all about friendship, and friendship in this social media ear and all other relationship. This film is introspective but never indulgent . I loved the secondary characters also .

A film for new age media addicts
Abhishek_Chaudhari6 January 2024
The films has great screen flow with amazing frames and amazing colours. The grade is superb, which should giving the fact that it's a new age film in 2023. The dialogues are good, the flow of the film is tight and does not feel stretched. The writer has nicely crafted the arc of Each characters which comes rightly in the screenplay. The background music is perfectly placed. The director has done justice showing the right use and drawback of social media. Some of the forecasting was predictable but doesn't break your flow. Keep an eye and ear out for some of the good references of the films by the producers. It's a good watch. The message of the film is not new but definitely very aesthetic.

A rare glimpse of the hidden world behind our fake social presence
FutureGuy29 December 2023
I am truly at a loss of words after watching this movie. I didn't expect much to begin with and I was genuinly surprised at how great the story is. Yes, I am one of those people whose heart strings are easy to pull but I won't lie, I was not ready for what this movie held in store.

Ah how much I love Adarsh Gaurav. He always manages to be in the best movies. I love his persona and the presence he creates is just brilliant. Siddhant was a surprise as well. I remember being a little disappointed in both him and Ananya after Gehraiyaan. I hated that movie but Siddhant can really portray a charismatic womanizer, the perfect cassanova and this movie uses him to achieve that brilliantly. Ananya, seems to have grown a lot. This performance definitely falls under her top 3, heck I would call it her best performance yet. Pretty darn impressive.

About the movie, like I said before, with a name "inspired" by the lyrics of a song, I didn't, I couldn't expect much. I decided to watch the movie at 1.25x speed and yes, the first half is kinda slow and could've been paced faster but doesn't matter, as the movie progressed, it revealed a lot layers deep within itself. The portrayal of the ugly things that go behind social media, the toxic influencer culture that permeates our society. It is a revealation. I loved that these topics were covered because I am definitely in for that.

I would love it if more such movies are made and hopefully these messages are taken positively by the community and we learn something from these. Really wish for that to happen.

A Glimpse into Urban Youth's Reality
Pranali_Patil4 February 2024
"Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" revolves around three characters portrayed by Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Adarsh Gourav. The movie goes through the lives of modern youth in metro cities, depicting their obsession with social media recognition, online dating, hookups, and the facade of influencer culture while neglecting family bonds.

The film sheds light on the harsh realities of today's digital age, portraying the struggles and dilemmas faced by young people. It offers a refreshing perspective on contemporary urban life, presenting a raw and authentic portrayal of the challenges and complexities of navigating relationships in a hyper-connected world.

While "Kho Gaye Hum Kahan" presents something new and thought-provoking, it falls short of leaving a lasting impact. Despite its relevance and insights, the movie is ultimately a one-time watch. Nonetheless, it serves as anreminder to reflect on our own relationship with technology and the importance of maintaining genuine connections in an increasingly digitalized society.

Vanished Bonds' brilliantly mirrors the intricacies of Gen Z existence. The relatable stories of the characters hit close to home, tackling the dichotomy between real and online personas. While some aspects may touch on privileged issues, the emotional core remains universal. The music adds depth to the narrative, creating an unforgettable cinematic experience. A surprising and resonant film that deserves applause! The storytelling strikes a chord by addressing the complexities of Gen Z existence, skillfully balancing relatable experiences with a touch of surprise. This film is undeniably a standout gem in recent times.

Find your tribe!
chand-suhas31 December 2023
Imaad Ali, Ahana Singh and Neil Pereira are three best friends. Imaad is a stand-up comedian yet to get his big break. Ahana is working at corporate company and Neil is a personal trainer, hoping to start his own gym. Imaad is from a well to-do film and so is Ahana, whereas Neil is from a middle-class family. All three are lost in the digital world, heavily addicted to their phones. Imaad fears intimate relationship, Ahana is desperate for her ex's approval and Neil is insecure about his social status. The film takes us through their ups and downs, as they learn to stand up for themselves.

I did wanted to joke about how the Farhan Akhtar - Zoya Akhtar duo has the same variation script revolving around three friends, a clash among two leaving the third one helpless and eventually they all make up. This time, the script offers a lot more through these characters with Adarsh Gourav and Ananya Panday stealing the show with their respective performances. Even Siddhanth Chaturvedi catches up with a good act. The issues the trio goes through remains highly relatable and that helped to get instantly invested in the story. With the strong cancel culture, the closure given to Neil in the end is convenient but barring that, the film delivers big time. Definitely recommended.

Reflect of my life
rokibolhasancse31 December 2023
Don't know how it actually relates to my life events but those things showed in this movie that is too much sensitive and everyone should handle those matters very carefully in anyone's life.

And also this movie perfectly shows the weak and soft mind of a girl that is very important for modern teen girls. They should know they have privacy and that shouldn't be accessible for everyone.

Finally we have just this only life and we have to enjoy this life in the proper way. We don't have too much time to restart our life again and again. So every decision should be very perfect and verify every decision repeatedly.

Massive waste of time!
ytbwycmjh30 December 2023
This movie had nothing to say and after two and a half hour runtime, I barely felt any emotions other than annoyance. The execution of the message -don't focus too much on social media- also felt stale and trite. Ananya was the weakest actor among the three leads. Siddharth Chaturvedi's character though charming, lacks any sort of believable conflict and I lost interest in his storyline pretty quick until they made him have a soapbox moment at a comedy show (???). Akash Gourav was the best performer among the 3, and his story felt interesting, however the lack of consequences for his actions (despite the movie being 2.5 hours!) felt like an overlooked loose end. I wish they had dived a little deeper into all 3 characters because everyone's resolutions in the end felt very rushed. We're expected to believe that a guy who has disrespected his father all his life somehow only needed to hear two lines from his best friend to turn their relationship around. Anyway, give this one a miss.

Extra star for Akash Gourav's performance. Also Siddharth is clearly a talented actor and needs to start picking projects which are more than shiny on the surface but ultimately lacking in depth and emotion.

Engaging and Insightful. Really worth watching!!

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan is a beautifully crafted narrative that engages you from the start. The film explores the nuances of friendship in the age of social media with a touch of humor and a lot of heart. The struggles of balancing personal aspirations with the complexities of online interactions are depicted in a manner that's both insightful and entertaining. One of the best things about this film is its portrayal of strong platonic friendship amongst straight people from different genders. This is so rare.such a nice movie I am super excited to watch this movie it's totally fabulous must watch it.

In 'Lost in Time,' Gen Z life unfolds on screen with remarkable authenticity. The relatable stories of the characters mirror our insecurities and the stark contrast between real and virtual existence. While some aspects touch on surface-level problems, the core emotions resonate deeply. The film's surprise element lies in its ability to capture the essence of contemporary challenges. The trio's outstanding performances and a noteworthy musical score make this a standout movie of the year. In a captivating cinematic journey, 'Transient Whispers' weaves a tapestry of emotions, offering a profound reflection on contemporary existence. Rajeev Kapoor's compelling performance effortlessly navigates a range of sentiments, earning accolades. An unexpected depth is added by Neha's exceptional acting, as the film delves into the intricacies of millennial life, unraveling insecurities and dissecting the profound influence of social media. This is a relatable and contemplative odyssey-a masterfully crafted film heightened by an unforgettable musical score.
