It's proving to be a compelling watch.

Harry continues to look for the missing Professor Dawson, but he's proving to be an illusive figure.

First thing to comment on, they've nailed the visuals, the vibe, the feel of the era, it really does feel so authentic, the camera angles and music really do help to set the tone, it's a beautiful adaptation.

The acting is so good, I feel that Cole and Boynton are replicating the acting of the time, they're not overdoing it, it's all very subtle. Tom Hollander is as always, a class act.

The story, of course is a classic, and I'll credit the team for telling it in a way that's quite easy to follow, the film is a little tougher to piece together, I'll be revisiting that once this is completed.

Thoroughly enjoying it, 8/10.

Beautiful

Very much enjoying this adaptation. Of course the base material is excellent, but recent UK TV adaptations have been poor and this one stands head and shoulders above recent drama. Some wonderful acting, beautiful cinematography and good pacing make this compelling. Looking forward to episode 3 (I have access to the whole, but am choosing to watch weekly).

Harry Palmer seems to have the knack for this spy lark.

The hunt of the missing physicist seems to have gone cold.

Major Dalby is impressed by Palmer and does not want him returned to prison.

The Americans want some urgency injected. Maybe a former British spy with a penchant for gambling could be the lead everyone wants.

By expanding on the source novel the series could explore some side characters more. We get to learn more about Dalby. However Colonel Ross was a major player in the film version.

At times the British spies seem to be a step or two behind their Russian counterparts. All that talk about Chelsea players, it was clear that was coded.

It is noticeable that the series is trying too hard to go for the 1960s movie look. I am not sure some of the arty shots were needed, it worked for Sidney J Furie when he made The Ipcress File.

Soon to be buried on the ITV Hub and never seen again

Not only does this series feel incredibly bad taste in the current climate, but it also isn't very good.

It looks cheap, the acting (aside from the performance of Lucy Boynton, who must've been slumming it by doing this between film jobs) feels like a bad amateur production of the original film.

This makes 'Dancing on Ice' look good.
