Interesting psychological soft thriller
movieman_kev11 December 2023
This is the second film I've seen starring Jet Jandreau and while I liked The Vigilante for what it was, she's undeniably much better in this black, psychological low-key thriller set in the Prohibition era. Baring all, body and soul, Jet gives a remarkably subtle performance as a put-upon wife with unspoken desires. She makes the film her own.

The film is an extremely slow-burn and not all threads are tied up. If either of those two things are deal breakers for you, you'll might be disappointed. But as for mem I found the movie quite good and eagerly anticipate whatever Jandreau decides to do next.

Real Michigan Talent on Display

Not only was this movie dark, gritty, and highlighted the human emotions; it gave you a sense of dread that most movies don't capture. The cast encapsulated a time in the upper peninsula of Michigan that has never been seen. The story unfolds in the prohibition era and is true to the times and shows you an experience that is true to the times not only then but also now, with first hand experience through the writing and acting.

Looking through the credits I was blown away by the Michigan talent on display. Not only was the director from Michigan but so was the assistant director, director of photography and almost all of the crew. It really highlighted how talented Michigan is in the movie industry.

The Real UP of Michigan

Absolutely brilliant movie that was both elegant and haunting. Highlighting a time and place in this country that has never been explored before that encapsulates a unique group of people who you have never seen.

Henry, James, and Elizabeth were portrayed in a relatable and tragic way. The prohibition era affected many of their tribulations that were put on display in this film. The performances will leave you questioning your humanity. This film will lead you down a road less traveled but should be seen by everyone.

Some may say that flies are annoying, but after you've seen this, the flies are everywhere.

Cinema cinema cinema - this film is a masterpiece

I stumbled upon this film while trying to find obscure under the radar movies on Amazon. The cover art really drew me to it. I watched the trailer and I was immediately hooked.

Generally when films of today try to produce in black and white, they fall flat on their face or insist upon themselves. However, I am happy to say that was not the case with attack of the flies. From beginning to end, as a viewer I was fully immersed in the story told my August Leo. The casting was fantastic, the sound editing was superb, and the film exudes a classic film feel that we really just don't get in today's Hollywood. After learning, surprisingly, that this was Leo's directorial debut, I became all the more excited to know that this artist is just getting started.

10/10 and I can't wait to see what he does next...
