Tries way too hard..
From the intro and first couple of eps I could tell that this wasnt for me. The description of the podcast: "Join Michael Stranney, podcaster, investigative journalist and part-time window cleaner on his quest to unearth the lesser known people, places, and peculiarities of the ancient Emerald Isle he calls home. Michael's mission is to lift the lid on the island of Ireland - and he won't let wild cows, the country's fastest funeral directors or extreme subsets of Catholicism stop him. Hidden Ireland is a Spotify Original, written by and starring Michael Stranney. The producer is Nick Coupe and it's a Whistledown production", is kind of misleading, this is satire and purely fictional.

The humour and comedy is reminiscent of "Bridget and Eamon" or "killinaskully", "The Naked Camera" etc They try incredibly hard to be quirky especially with the first ep but it just comes off as contrived and predictable and ultimately boring in my opinion.

If the podcast was actually about real characters and real life, i'm sure theres plenty of genuine oddballs in Ireland that would make for a very interesting podcast without the need for forced, scripted comedy.

But hey if you're a fan of RTE style sitcoms this maybe for you. Unfortunately i'm not.
