Jon Turteltaub could give us all what we really want: a third National Treasure movie. Instead, he’s going to direct Insane, a movie about Crazy Eddie Antar, the owner of an electronics chain who ended up in jail after committing one of the greatest securities frauds in history. It will no doubt make for a crazy true story – […]

Director Jon Turteltaub, who we all know from Cool Runnings, While You Were Sleeping, National Treasure, and The Meg, has been hired to take on the task of directing the movie Insane, about the real life story of “Crazy” Eddie Antar, the Electronics King. Deadline reports the following rundown of the story of Crazy Eddie:
Antar opened his first store in Brooklyn, grew quickly to 43 stores, and then briefly became a Wall Street sensation when he took the company public. Those were fueled by groundbreaking ads delivered with used car salesman subtlety, and frenzied enough to obscure trouble in the back room. The trouble was, Antar had been skimming money and falsifying inventory to inflate stock value. United States Attorney Michael Chertoff, who prosecuted the case, would call Eddie Antar the “Darth Vader of capitalism.”

Now that Richard Shepard's batsh*t crazy new horror film, The Perfection, is streaming on Netflix, you might have a few questions. Like, first and foremost: what the actual f*ck?! (At least that was my reaction after watching.) And perhaps second: have Allison Williams and Logan Browning secretly been wildly talented cellists all this time? Because the scenes of their musical performances are pretty convincing, to say the least.
Although you likely won't see either of the film's stars challenging Yo-Yo Ma to a riff-off anytime soon, the pair actually did learn how to play the cello for their roles. If you haven't seen the film, Williams plays Charlotte, a troubled musical prodigy who seeks out Elizabeth (Browning), the star cellist of the music conservatory she once attended years earlier. Their encounter sends both musicians down a deeply twisted path of love, violence, and revenge, climaxing with a truly insane ending.

On paper, the martial-arts epic Into the Badlands is a show so unconventional that its creators were shocked that AMC wanted to make it. “We would have bet against it, for sure,” co-creator Miles Millar said Monday, still sounding a bit surprised that the show actually made it to air in November 2015. “The show ended up being the most satisfying experience of our career. We were given complete freedom. It’s been amazing because, you know, the show is insane.”
Millar’s writing and producing partner, Al Gough, didn’t agree with that — the show isn’t “insane,” he says, it is in actuality “totally batshit crazy.” Whether the series has been genuinely bananas or just aggressively quirky, Into the Badlands gave up the ghost tonight after its 32nd episode closed out its third season.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “The Umbrella Academy”)
If you have questions after watching the first season of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” we can tell you that we don’t have any answers. And neither does David Castañeda, who starred as Diego on the streamer’s adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s graphic novels about a dysfunctional family of superheroes.
The ending to the Season 1 finale sees the Umbrella Academy, after failing to stop Vanya (Ellen Page) and avert the apocalypse, decide to let Five (Aidan Gallagher) take them all back in time to try and prevent it entirely. And in doing so, we still Vanya, Five, Diego, Luther (Tom Hopper), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan) and even Ben (Justin H. Min) all de-age down to their pre-teen selves. Huh?
Yeah, Castañeda doesn’t know what’s going on there either.

In response to the suggestion from Chicago Police that Empire actor Jussie Smollett falsified a police report, which is a class 4 felony charge, and staged the Jan. 29 attack because he was reportedly dissatisfied with his salary, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah weighed in on the conflict.
Noah posted a five minute video Thursday, in which he shared his thoughts on the unfolding case. "The whole world knows Jussie's name, and for all the wrong reasons," said Noah, before showing a series of news media clips from early reports on the case.

Netflix dropped the official trailer for “The Umbrella Academy” Thursday, giving fans a hazy shade” of what’s in store for them when the streamer’s TV adaptation of former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way’s comic book series launches in February.
In the two-minute, 12-second clip, we’re introduced to the self described “insane” family of superheroes at the center of the 10-episode series, which stars Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, and Kate Walsh.
Here’s the official logline for hour-long drama: On the same day in 1989, 43 infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. Now, the six surviving members...

Andy Serkis counts himself among those who’ve taken a pounding from a superhero, and it was not something he’ll soon forget.
During filming for the pivotal chase and fight scene set in South Korea in “Black Panther,” Serkis said that star Chadwick Boseman rattled him when T’Challa kneed him in the chest.
“Very, very first take, he kneed me so hard in the chest- ’cause he couldn’t really see with his mask on — I thought like he broke my ribs on the very first take,” Serkis said in an interview with PeopleTV’s “Couch Surfing.”

We’ll go out on a limb and say no scene in this year’s crop of awards films was more Wtf? than the absurd and delightful royal dance moment in “The Favourite.”
Debuting early on in Yorgos Lanthimos’ female love-triangle drama, the dance serves as wonderful reminder that, even when dressed like Merchant Ivory and full of Shakespearean power grabs, this is still Lanthimos’ world — thanks to disorienting modern choreography and outright silliness.
Stars Rachel Weisz and Joe Alwyn square off in the scene, set at a palace rager thrown by Olivia Colman’s Queen Anne. The scene has two purposes: establish how autonomously Weisz’s Lady Sarah operates as the Queen’s closest adviser and secret lover, and how temperamental the wheelchair-bound queen can be when she’s reminded of all the fun she can’t have.
“I must dance,” Weisz tells Colman when an unremarkable instrumental piece begins to play.

I Drink Your Blood (1970) is as old as I am. Unlike me, however, it shows very little wear and tear; a loud and proud exploitation horror diorama from an age when all boundaries of good taste and reason were pushed to the breaking point. If you only have room in your life for one rabies-infested satanic hippies movie, make it I Drink Your Blood.
This film is the blueprint for creating your very own grimy, crude, offensive B classic. First, you need a backer. Enter producer Jerry Gross, known at the time as a king of grindhouse hype, modeled after William Castle. For example, when he rereleased two of the ‘60s Mondo films (real rituals and customs from exotic locales, documentary style), Mondo Cane and Mondo Pazzo on a double bill, he paraded around actors in tribesmen costumes to sell the authenticity of the films. Chances are strong that the vast majority of viewers who take in Otto Bell’s crowd-pleasing documentary “The Eagle Huntress” will approach the material with little, if any, knowledge of its subject: the time-honored Eurasian falconry tradition of eagle-hunting. That’s about to change in a big way. Featuring a story so readymade for the big screen — and, yes, Fox has already optioned the film for an animated version — that it feels almost unbelievable, Bell’s feature directorial debut is bolstered immeasurably by a captivating leading (little) lady and a story that transcends time and location. Aided by smart and simple narration from Daisy Ridley, the result is an all-ages outing about tradition, respect, family and, yes, the power of feminism to positively change lives.
Bell’s film follows 13-year-old Aisholpan, a Kazakh kid with one main aspiration — to be an eagle huntress. It may sound like a simple enough request,...

If you walk into a Karan Johar film expecting subtlety, the joke is on you. The director has made a successful, nearly 20-year career out of using his films as vehicles to showcase stunning places, gorgeous people, and grand emotions. His unabashed preference of style (often over substance) and lavishness over logic has come to define his brand of cinema, so much so that audiences not only let him get away with it, but even look forward to his inflated-in-every-way productions by now.

Spencer claims he’s a whole new man! What do You think?
Could Spencer Pratt, 26, have truly found enlightenment? We’ve certainly noticed a change in his online behavior over the past couple of months, as he’s gone from tweeting his usual self-centered nonsense to tweeting about yoga and how he cries almost every day. It sounds strange, but if you ask Spencer, he’ll say it’s all part of his new spiritual lifestyle. Heidi Montag’s hubby was spotted walking the streets of Los Angeles on Feb. 19, and he couldn’t wait to tell the press all about his new ways! Tell us, BFFs — do you think Spencer has truly embraced a new spiritual lifestyle? Or is this just another textbook Speidi publicity stunt?

According to photographers, Spencer “explained the benefits of chanting, crystals and rambled virtually incoherently.” Uh… whatever you say, Spencer. Tell us, BFFs — do you think Spencer has truly embraced a new spiritual lifestyle? Or is this just another textbook Speidi publicity stunt?

Heidi says she “cannot wait to show off [her] new assets!”
Heidi Montag’s magazine domination will continue with a second spread in Playboy magazine, she told RadarOnline.com last night at Las Vegas club Pure, where she and hubby Spencer Pratt were hosting a Valentine’s Day party. “I cannot wait to show off my new assets,” she says. And there’s one more thing Heidi can’t wait to do — get more plastic surgery!
“Eventually I’d like to get my breasts redone,” she said. “I didn’t get them the size I wanted because they couldn’t fit.” Uh, Heidi… maybe you should take that a sign — your boobs are big enough! We could barely get through writing this post without our eyes being uncontrollably drawn to your ginormous left breast in the above photo!
“Life couldn’t be better,” Spencer adds. He seems to be very happy with the new Heidi,...

Could you possibly be heartbroken over Heidi Montag’s new plastic surgery addiction?
We’ve seen a lot of emotions from Spencer Pratt over the years — anger, pride and definitely plenty of confusion — but we never thought we’d see the day when he actually breaks down in tears! That’s apparently what his life has come to, at least according to him. “Today was [Heidi Montag] and my 24 day of Kundalini Yoga!” he tweeted Feb. 1. “I have been crying out all my built up emotions daily!” Like many forms of yoga, Kundalini is supposed to result in mental and spiritual growth — but we find it hard to believe that Spencer is really all that sad.
Seriously, Spencer, we’d like to know where all this sudden emotion is coming from. Are you torn apart over Heidi’s massive plastic surgery, or possibly the fact that her debut album Superficial...
