- Jane Andrew Mancini, Sydney's older estranged sister, arrives in Los Angeles and announces that she inherited the building from Sydney. Being just as evil and devious as everyone else, Jane threatens Ella with blackmail unless Ella allows her to dress one of her clients for a movie premiere in a Jane Mancini original design. Meanwhile, Detective Rodriguez starts to ask questions about Violet's connection to Sydney. Violet escapes out of the bathroom window still unwilling to tell anyone about her belief that Sydney was her biological mother. David asks Auggie to give him a temp job at Coal, but David's typical behavior makes him lose his job and embarrasses Auggie to his cynical boss, Marcello. Riley and Jonah crash the movie premier hoping Jonah will meet more influential people for his career, while Riley learns about Violet's arrest after Jane betrays her to the police, and bails her out of jail over Jonah's protests. Elsewhere, Lauren and a client meet up at a hotel bar after she's stood up by Toby. On leaving the hotel after being beaten up and stiffed by the brutal john, Lauren is stopped by Wendi, a local Hollywood madame who pimps out her employees in a "not so legal" deal with the hotel, and she threatens Lauren to stay away from the hotel and her business. But Lauren offers a compromise of her services to Wendi.—matt-282
- David is making out in his parked roadster with an attractive dusky brunette when he notices that he is being watched by a particularly nasty-looking Asian guy. Back at Melrose Place, the gang lazes in or by the pool., Jonah in the lilo, everybody is in a great mood. Lauren gets an e-mail from Toby looking to hook up again. When Ella (hot blonde Katie Cassidy) suggests Jonah should meet her acquaintance Abby Douglas, whose new romcom is being filmed, Jonah lets on that Zac McGalvin, the guy who wrote the script, is a college drinking buddy, so he already has an invite to the premiere party. Violet is psyched about upgrading her new texting abilities, and requests Riley's digits, and Jonah tries in vain to cut that off. Just as he complains about the pool's heater being broken, Jane Andrews (blast from the past, well-preserved Josie Bissett) appears, Sydney's older sister, she'll look after the upkeep, for she has inherited Melrose Place.
Ella is hot on her tail to try wangle moving in to Sydney's room, and Jane makes some snide comments. Sydney had forwarded all the threatening e-mails Ella made, to her, and Jane now blackmails Ella, scheming to get Jane Mancini Designs back in business again, her comeback after torching her first venture to collect the insurance, and what would be a better showcase than the upcoming premiere party, her latest creation worn by Abby Douglas? Unless Ella is happy with the police taking a peek at those e-mails?
The premiere party for "Kensington Squared" will be at Coal where David is desperately trying to score a job from grumpy chef Marcello. He apologizes to Auggie for not having been such a good friend ever since Sydney came into the picture. Auggie vouches for him to Marcello, and David is hired.
The police are at Violet's place to ask her a few routine questions. She (hot redhead Ashlee Simpson) is all bare legs, fresh from the swimming pool, and asks to be excused to go put on something to wear. She pads off, as they speculate on her future career choices (actress, singer, stripper) behind the pretty girl's back. Foolishly, she climbs through the bathroom window and makes a break for it. The police have a 'runner' to pursue.
Lauren makes a date with Toby. Ella enters the room, teasing her about yet another date, but Lauren pretends she was talking to a female intern at the hospital. To which sexually adventurous Ella responds by asking if the intern is hot. Lauren doesn't seem to notice this question. They discuss their new landlord. Ella laments that clearly the two are related, Jane has Sydney's fangs. Lauren fears that Jane might raise the rent, she has it hard enough as it is, even with Ella subsidizing her.
A disgruntled Jonah is editing 'merit badge videos' while his old friend Zac is living the dream. Riley inquires re that success story. Zac was a caddy for über-agent golfing aficionado Charlie Kitsis, and got his script read, and "Kensington Squared" was born, with Abby Douglas thrown into the mix.
At her meeting with Caleb in his glass castle of an office overlooking the city, Ella pushes Jane Andrews as the designer of choice for Abby's red carpet outfit. Caleb has of course never heard of her. He taunts her about this being another of her special cases, and she points out that the music video (previous episode, Grand (2009)) was a raging success. Sneeringly, Caleb tells her she'd better hope lightning does strike in the same place, her reputation is on the line.
Abby Douglas (hot Georgia, USSR import Elena Satine, another redhead) is the epitome of the spoiled Hollywood princess. The awesome dress doesn't exactly thrill her. When asked if she was going to wear a bra underneath, she replies "bras are for breeders", which she clearly is not. In a huff, she strips shamelessly out of the dress, showing sexy lingerie-styled underwear. Jane inwardly seethes, Ella had better fix this - or else! - and it is clear that there is much, much more of this in store for Ella. Ella looks at her as if she is a serial killer . After the fitting, Jane discovers runaway Violet in the dressing room. She comes forward with the whole story, that she is Sydney's daughter. Oh, huggy time, and Aunt Jane will go make her darling niece some camomile tea, but as she goes next door, entering on those cruelly tight, ultra high-heeled shoes, she is the Wicked Fairy phoning the police "to report a fugitive".
At the Pacific's Cinerama Theatre, Jonah and Riley crash the premiere of "Kensington Squared" caught up in the bedazzling bright lights of it all. Some day, she muses, something like this will be for Jonah, but he sighs that he will have to sell something first. No matter, he has the talent, and Riley, believing in him, will stand by him. He loves her even more.
Ella, rearranging the seating arrangements to favor Abby to the detriment of Reese Witherspoon, confesses to David that although she doesn't mind public embarrassment, what she is concerned about is having to defend herself against a charge of a crime she did not commit.
Lauren, in a short dress showing off her legs, arrives at the hotel, and sits down at the bar, ordering a glass of sparkling water. Victor, on the hunt, offers to buy her a real drink. He has obviously sussed her out as a 'working girl' and wishes to cut to the chase. "Money's money, does it really matter whose wallet it is coming from?" She feigns not having an inkling of an idea of what he is talking about. Off he goes. Incoming call from Violet, which she ignores.
Zac comes over to Jonah and they reminisce, Riley telling him that Jonah turned down a six-figure sum from producer Gary Sarling (first episode Pilot (2009)) which makes quite an impression.
At the restaurant, Auggie, hard at work, ignores an incoming call from Violet. The Asian guy is one of the customers entering, and David, on the alert, checks him out. Abby has complaints about her dress, and Jane phones Ella in a huff. She wants all problems ironed out immediately, and there will be future gala events where her dresses will just have to reign supreme - or else!
Charlie Kitsis is much impressed with Riley's extensive knowledge of golf. She explains to Jonah "a little Google goes a long way. "Your woman is the best agent you'll ever have," he tells Jonah, inviting him to the afterparty. But her attention is diverted by Violet's frantic plea for help. The girl is all alone in jail, and Riley rushes off, despite Jonah's need for her to stay and hold Charlie's attention. He points out that innocent people do not run off from the police. "I have to help her, Jonah!" - reminding him of why he fell in love with her in the first place.
Inspector Rodriguez and his partner is questioning Violet. She reveals her belief that she is Sydney's daughter, and they assume that Sydney was quite upset to discover this. "Are you kidding? She was so happy! She gave me the biggest hug. We finally got to know each other."
Toby e-mails, he missed his connection, and Lauren's date is a bust. Victor, stood up as well, closes in again. Asking the pointed question, "Are you working tonight?" which she affirms.
David overhears the Asian dude reporting back to Michael, he is spying on him, and he hotheadedly beats up the guy right there in the restaurant. Marcello is furious, instantly blaming Auggie for having backed up the little ruffian messing up the place.
Stepping out of the stretch hybrid, the upset princess. A torn seam, and Abby wants another dress, the $1000 shoes are killing her as well. Ella must fix or she is out of there. Much to Jane's chagrin, Ella directs Abby to the dress in the trunk of the car. "My clients always come first." But Jane just snarls, "I sure hope it was worth it."
Lauren finds out that collecting the payoff from a guy after having given him the sex, is no easy task. She gets shoved around, pushed hard against the wall, and Victor, aptly named, storms out as she gives up.
David is outside waiting for Auggie when his shift is over. Marcello is holding him responsible and he might get fired. Auggie shrugs off David's help, he doesn't want to be helped the way he 'helped' Sydney the night she died. He rides off on his motorcycle.
Jonah is ecstatic. Charlie wants to see his movie, even if he did blow him off for Ashton Kutcher. Matter at hand though, who's in the bathroom? Not that mysterious girl? "We have scissors in there." Riley reveals Violet's lineage to an incredulous Jonah, who points out that in their own personal little slasher-flick, Violet is obviously the killer. Violet, overheating, emerges from the room, and explains the past sad trauma of her young life, having been in a foster home with bad adoptive parents. Escaping there, she took some of their money, explaining why she ran from the cops. Winning over some support, she adds that Melrose Place is "the only place I can sleep without being afraid."
Hotel security is on to Lauren. She has e-mails that can verify her story, but the security guard plans to phone the police. Wendi Mattison (Kelly Carlson) steps in, helping out, because she was once in a similar situation.
"Jane's samples won't be fit to mop floors," Ella reflects to David, who offers to dig around for skeletons in Jane's past. With the means he recently acquired (final scene of Grand (2009)) that is going to be like taking candy from a baby. Ella is delighted. "I don't think anybody ever offered to destroy an enemy of mine before." And then she leads him off so that he can receive his reward. "Let me go work on that alibi."
David confronts Jane with the evidence he found in his father's files. She torched her warehouse and clothing line. Jane protests her innocence, but David suggests he might phone the insurance company, or better yet, the FBI. Jane threatens to make his life miserable, but he'll take his chances.
An indignant Marcello spitefully informs Auggie the next day that his chances of ever running the kitchen are now slim indeed. Lauren surveys her bruises in the mirror, and phones Wendi to discuss future employment opportunities. Everybody is surprised by the revelation re 'Sydney's daughter', it does make sense though, Jonah points out the red hair, and Ella refers to 'the schizo glitter in her eyes'. Violet made peanut butter cookies for Riley, which the gang eyes a bit skeptically, Ella suspicious that it might be laced with cyanide, but it is delicious, everyone agrees, except Ella, while Violet looks at them like a little bird that has fallen out of the nest. Ella rushes off, thanking David for his help, but the rest was all "a total one-off." He insists she had a good time. "Don't worry, David, I always have a good time."
Jane anonymously snitches on Ella to the police.
