- While the Darkling and Alina confront each other, one of his shadow monsters grab Alina's neck and pick her up high in the air. The Darkling yells at it to stop and let her go, but it does not listen. The sword is thrown at the monster and breaks it apart, saving Alina. A shadow monster strangles Nikolai for a long time, and the terror in his face is visible.
- A heartrender is shown to take a drug that amplifies her power. She stands in a crowd and uses it, causing blood to come out of everyone's mouth as they start dying. Blood and graphic.
