The title refers to "Vaudeville" that consisted of a variety of acts presented in theaters throughout the United States and Canada from the 1880's to the 1930's until the advent of radio and the movies. Most entertainers of the early to mid-twentieth century started in vaudeville including George Burns and Gracie Allen.
