"The Legend of the Seeker"'s first season bared little resemblance to the books it was based on, but it was harmless fun. This first episode of the second season keeps all the aspects of the first season, the good and the bad ones. It makes for a fun enough experience that barely lasts 40 minutes, but little more.
With Lord Rahl out of the picture, Richard and Kahlan have brought peace to the land. But of course, things are never as easy as they seem, and a new danger is in waiting, a new threat to the world. Pretty soon they will discover a breach, a tear between the world of the living and the underworld, from where creatures are starting to enter the former one. At the same time, there is trouble in the remaining Mord-Sith, and some of Lord Rahl's followers have decided to make Richard their new Lord.
It is all quite silly and cheesy, and the script and performances range from OK, to over-the-top. But at the same time, the show has charm, and the actors grow on the viewer, as does the story. Even if the resolution to the episode is nothing special, it is fun enough, and keeps things interesting, like Mord-Sith Cara Mason's fight against her peers.
The second season won't break any new ground in the fantasy world, but it will still be a fun way to expend some time (Raimi's touch is clear).
