It's a Xena reunion
chilaili25 October 2021
Xena, Gabrielle and Eolus are back.

Renee O'Connor plays the far-too-serene head of a super creepy self-help organization. Her husband has died during an assignation with his much younger mistress. Alexa's cynicism and suspicion go into overdrive when she sees widow and mistress being far too friendly and then hears the dead man's son got cut out of the will.

As much as I enjoy the reunion, this was kind of a weak episode with the resolution coming far too easily.

Nice reunion, so-so mystery

Warning: Spoilers
It was fun seeing Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor) playing opposite Xena (Lucy Lawless) some 20 years later. Unfortunately, I don't think Renee ever smiles throughout this whole episode (Renee's warm smile was always one of her best features on Xena).

Iolaus (Michael Hurst) also makes an appearance of sorts in the episode (Hurst played Hercules buddy, Iolaus, on the Xena companion show, "Hercules: the Legendary Journeys".) Hurst, however, is only on a video screen, having suffered a suspicious and untimely death two weeks earlier.

Alexa Crowe (Lucy Lawless) is making a nuisance of herself, causing Renee O'Connor to never smile for us--although her husband's untimely and suspicious death could also be contributing to O'Connor's dour mood.

I would agree with the other user reviewer, that this was not one of the better episodes this season. The plot is something of a repeat of at least one other episode, where Alexa is uncomfortable, bordering on obnoxious, as she insinuates herself into a New Age therapy environment. The message in these "New Age environment episodes" always seems to be the same--watch your back and hang on to your wallet!
