- Belle and Duncan attend Bambi's wedding to Byron where Belle is hesitant about accepting Stephanie's offer of work in the Maldives because of her commitment to Duncan. However her attitude changes when Bambi tells her Duncan is one of her regular punters and she is unconvinced when he explains that, though he loves her, he sees theirs as an open relationship. She turns to Ben for consolation and they send an email to Duncan's firm exposing him as a prostitute's client. She then flies off to the Maldives, with a note from Ben which says that he loves her.—don @ minifie-1
- Belle lies in bed as her client goes through his usual motions. After, she asks him if he might like to try something completely different some time. He whispers something in her ear.
A few moments later she paints his fingernails red and she asks him if he's ever tried it before. Turns out he wants to try on some of her lingerie. So he joins her in bed and they go at it again in matching underthings.
Belle tells us that everyone has a secret desire and eventually the truth will come out.
Cut to Hannah and Duncan arriving for Bambi and Byron's wedding. Hannah leaves Duncan alone with Bambi, whom he paid for sex in last week's episode. Bambi snaps at him, asking why he's there and saying she can't believe he came. He assures her he tried his best to get out of it.
Hannah runs into Ben, who checks that she got all 27 of his messages. She seems to thaw. Stephanie the madam introduces herself to Duncan as the mother of the bride and then tries to get Belle to take a two week job on a private island in the Maldives.
Belle says no, but thanks Stephanie for thinking of her.
"Well, you know me, 60 percent heart, 40 percent commission," Stephanie jokes.
In the bathroom, Byron hands Ben his coke to hold until later. None of his family is there, but Ben says who needs family when you've got friends.
Bambi talks to Belle, telling her she hopes they can all be friends and saying she feels like she can be herself around Byron.
Belle says Bambi's an inspiration and maybe she should just take the leap with Duncan. Bambi curses and takes a deep breath. She tells Belle that she knows him, that he's a client. Belle tries not to cry as it's time for the ceremony.
Belle/Hannah watches with jaws clenched as Bambi, aka Gloria White, marries Byron.
Hannah doesn't manage to smile for the wedding picture. Finally, she storms for the door, telling Duncan if he wants her he can pay for her, like the others.
He follows her into the hallway and she asks if it's true. He admits he's been with other escorts before. But Belle's an escort herself. She says it's different because it's her job. She keeps demanding answers of him as she cries, if he sleeps with all his authors, how many times he cheated since they were together. He claims he didn't lie to her about it and he told her from the beginning that he was a screw-up. She brushes off the get-out-of-jail-free attempt and tells him all she wanted was honesty.
She tells him she might be a whore, but he's worse.
Ben sits with her later, saying he wanted to punch him. Hannah marvels that her job is to read men and she completely missed it with Duncan.
She tells Ben she should have listened to him. Ben says he didn't know Duncan was like that, but he hated the way he talked down to him. But mostly he hated how he felt when he saw them together.
Back at Hannah's with Ben and newlyweds, they try to make her feel better about Duncan. Ben asks if she really wants to go on with the book. Then he suggests her last chapter be about Duncan and his secret habit, so he won't be the one who profits from their love story.
She faces her laptop and writes as Ben brings her coffee and doesn't let her quit.
When she's done she can't decide if she feels better. She writes a "send all" message to his office, saying if you want to know what Duncan is really like, read the attached chapter. She takes a deep breath, decides she's sure, but still wavers, Ben guides her and hits "send all."
Duncan comes in to work later and everyone stares at him. We hear Belle's voice-over that he's a serial user of prostitutes who doesn't know when to stop.
Duncan sees the message and pales. Belle writes that some men, like Duncan, use prostitutes because they can and because it's easier than a real relationship and he's so fundamentally dishonest he doesn't even know that he's lying to himself.
Belle resolves that from now on she's keeping her secrets to herself.
Stephanie calls, extending the Maldives offer again. Belle says yes. She heads out for breakfast with her real friends.
The next day she pulls up to a private plane in a Rolls Royce. She tells us, "I love my job." Her phone rings. It's Ben telling her to look in her bag.
He's written her a new book. "Duncan was a prick, all your other boyfriends were pricks, I'm not a prick." The last page says "You plus me?"
He knows she has to head off to work, he just wants her to come back to him.
Ben?
She says, "Maybe."
