John Carpenter, Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter are back with Lost Themes IV: Noir, a brand new album from Sacred Bones Records that was released today, May 3.
Lost Themes IV: Noir is the latest installment in a series that sees Carpenter releasing new music for John Carpenter movies that don’t actually exist. The first Lost Themes was released in 2015, followed by Lost Themes II in 2016 and Lost Themes III: Alive After Death in 2021.
The new ten song collection was loosely inspired by the noir genre and marks new territory for John Carpenter and his cohorts, imbibing their trademark synth hooks and pulsing drum machine with propulsive post punk basslines and smoldering guitar solos.

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End ended in March, after just six months on the air and a mere 28 episodes, which is not nearly enough for this marvelous series. The season ended with the phrase “The Journey to Ende Continues,” which many fans have taken as a confirmation of a second season, especially since it has been used in many other released videos and images. Having said all of this, a second season is basically a sure thing despite no explicit official confirmation, and while fans are waiting for new information, the series is on a break. But that doesn’t mean that we’re done with Frieren, as we have more exciting news to report.
Character popularity polls are nothing strange in the world of manga and anime. Fans are able to cast their votes (on a one-person-one-vote basis) to determine which characters from a series are the most popular.

Last year, legendary filmmaker / composer John Carpenter teamed up with his son Cody Carpenter, godson Daniel Davies, and Sacred Bones Records to put an album called Anthology II: Movie Themes 1976-1988 out into the world. Now they’re back at it, as a press release has announced that the latest album from the Carpenters and Davies, Lost Themes IV: Noir, will be released on May 3rd! Pre-orders are available at This Link. To promote the album, a music video for the song “My Name Is Death” has been produced, and you can watch that in the embed at the bottom of this article.
The “My Name Is Death” music video is miniature noir film that was directed by Ambar Navarro and stars Natalie Mering (Weyes Blood), Staz Lindes (The Paranoyds), and Misha Lindes (SadGirl). John Carpenter had this to say: “Noir is a uniquely American genre born in post-war cinema.

John Carpenter has announced his new album, Lost Themes IV: Noir, a non-soundtrack release arriving May 3rd via Sacred Bones Records. To build anticipation, the filmmaker and composer has shared the lead single, “My Name Is Death,” and its accompanying music video. Stream it below.
The upcoming album reunites the horror master with his frequent collaborators, son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. A follow-up to 2021’s Lost Themes III: Weeping Ghost, Noir promises to be unlike anything the trio has done before — a stylistic shift that enhances Carpenter’s signature atmospheric synth with a distinctly “noir” vibe.
The 10-track project is a tribute to the film noir genre, with songs inspired by some of Carpenter’s favorite films. Rather than recreating these old soundtracks, the album translates the haunting, dramatic orchestral scores of ’40s-era Hollywood pulp into Carpenter’s guitar-heavy synth soundscapes. “Some of the music is heavy guitar riffs,...
