Should have been called "Deceived by My Mother-In-Law Part 2"
mja5815 May 2021
Story picked up with the ending of "Deceived by My Mother-In-Law", and brought back Dey Young, Jackee Harry, and Rib Hillis' characters. (Michael Pare was brought back in a flashback.)

However, this story seemed a little flat and unconvincing.

Look for -

1. Dey Young's character (Maggie) walking around in pants that look painted on - honey, that doesn't look too good on folks that are 65-ish.

2. Chelsea Gilson's outfits throughout the movie - very sexy for someone who's supposed to be with child.

3. Jackee Harry - she appeared to be billed in a starring role by her screen time was minimal.

4. Eric Roberts playing a sleazebag doctor.

5. The LAME ending - it looks like it was tacked on.

LMN, please do not continue the con-artist mommy movies - - maybe try con-artist DADDIES!.

Not a bad sequel

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a sequel to Deceived by my mother in law which premiered one day before this one did on Lifetime. So both of them must of been filmed back to back.

Actress Dey Young can definitely play a criminal mastermind from hell very well, especially in this sequel which turned out to be slightly better than the first one.

Picking up exactly where the last one ended, this one features several greedy players entering the old con game, which an innocent family nearly suffers in this one. The only thing I was hoping for at the end was a huge showdown, which never happened. So I'm taking it a third one will be coming out soon since only one person goes down at the end.

Ridiculous

This movie was absolutely a waste of time. The acting was totally horrendous...almost funny at times. I just can't believe I wasted 90 minutes of my life that I can never get back.

So is this going to be like the Stalked by my doctor series? Is there going to be part 3, 4 and 5?! Bloody stupid if you ask me!

Hard to watch

Mommy's Deadly Con Artist.... Dumb movie, waste of film. On a lighter note, this movie proves that anyone can get a job as an actor, even if they live several towns away. And, anyone else can get a job as a writer. Although the plot had potential, it failed.

Terrible plot, Terrible acting!!! Where on earth do they find these bad actors? And sad to see these very young actresses with surgery 'enhanced' faces!

Warning: Spoilers
I did not know this is the sequel to Deceived by my Mother-in-law. I just happened to record both movies. LMN should relate these movies. I really don't understand why wealthy people don't have a surveillance system and leave their doors unlocked. James (Rib Hillis) walked onto their property and into their home. How could they be so trusting to let strangers, who admitted they were out of their league, walk into their lives without investigating them. They didn't even get suspicious when the housekeeper dies and the patriarch of the family is in a coma after the arrival of these strangers. The acting was horrendous. Alice (Sophia Katarina) tells her brother Landon (Andrew Rogers) that the woman he just married is not really pregnant and is a con artist. He has the same expression he's had throughout the movie, and just continues to stretch his legs to go on his run. Was he really going to go on a run after hearing the people in his home were con artists who had probably killed the housekeeper and tried to kill his father. His face was expressionless. I think he was the worse actor of them all. It looks like the ending is setup for part three. Don't think I'll be watching.

What a Waste

Warning: Spoilers
This was really dumb, with bad acting and worse writing! I see from other reviews that this would basically be considered a sequel to another movie, which sort of explains this disjointed character popping up now and then and talking about her dead husband. Otherwise, that made no sense at all, and that actress acted like she was on drugs in every scene she was in! I thought the Landon character was also badly acted---very flat. But the thing that really got me was the bit about the sister, Alice. Seems she was in on it until she wasn't ?? No explanation, no sense!

A continuation of Deceived by My MIL
CranberriAppl18 May 2021
Same movie except this time, the mark is a male with a con artist fiancee instead of a lady with a con artist husband. These were clearly filmed in succession and based on the ending, this will be a trilogy at least.

Jackee Harry's character is the connecting thread to this because she's obviously the only character who realizes what's going on. The movie picks up with them killing her husband from the last movie but the first movie does the "one year later" thing. I can't remember a mention of her client that was the victim in the last and the other characters don't make an appearance. I also think it was strange that they pulled the con in the same place.

I think it's worth a watch ONLY if you've watched Deceived and so much is the same (they do add characters), that you don't even have to pay close attention. I don't think there's anything to spoil because it's so similar to the first. I won't deny that I'll probably watch the third movie if they produce it. Seems likely based on the ending.
