The sound effects of inside out Michael were created by layering recordings of twisting leather gloves and squishing ground beef.
Originally, a professional actor was cast in the role of Michael, with all of his dialogue recorded. He was ultimately replaced by writer/director Peter Ahern's voice to better compliment Kelly McCormack's dialogue track.
The use of digital technology and computers was kept to a bare minimum and utilized only to composite the characters onto the background art during the last two weeks of production.
Every object in the house is based upon or inspired by real items and decor from the 1960s.
