Interesting premise but...

Beware of reviews that give 9 or 10/10 and sound like manic handouts from the publicity department. Anyway, I liked the premise of this series - to see the acts behind the scenes interacting naturally so you not only see their stage persona but something of their real selves. In the first episode, for example, we see Jimmy Carr comfortable and confident but Seann Walsh is nervous and insecure. There are 4 comedians in each episode and which ones you like is a matter of taste, of course. Where the series falls down for me is Katherine Ryan's perhaps strange decision to have Geoff Norcott as her writer. I think Ryan is talented but she loses it a bit here having to use Norcott's material. He also appears and is in every episode. Norcott is well-known as being one of the few right-wing comedians around and like all right-wing comedians he isn't very funny and can be quite nasty. In episode 2, Ryan's friend Sarah Pascoe appears and Norcott, asked to come up with something for Ryan to say about her, can only come up with, "Looks like a horse in a dress." It's interesting that in the same episode Norcott avoids Frankie Boyle.

Worth a watch if you could edit out Norcott's stuff.

Brilliantly diverse
A number of comedy genres are brought together here by one of the best comedians in the world right now. The back stage shenanigans are brilliant and showcase the natural humour of the eclectic mix of funny people. Undoubtedly though it's the episodes with friends and long serving colleagues that shine - the Jimmy Carr and Nish Kumar episodes being particular highlights. I binged the entire thing and am only adding this review in the hope that Amazon add another series. I need more of Katherine (who doesn't) and friends. Also If easily offended then this probably isn't for you.

Must watch comedy

This show is an absolute must for fans of uncensored, unadulterated, unfiltered fans of comedy. Each episode Canadian/British Katherine Ryan invites some of Britain's best comics for an evening on stage with a fascinating and hilarious look into what goes behind the scenes. With everything that's going on in the world, she showcases the positive diversity of a world I want to live in. Those easily offended or looking for people to cancel need not watch.

Refreshing and entertaining

It is great to see behind the scenes and watch some of the interaction between comedians regarding the banter or conversations that go on. I know that there is editing going on, but we get to see some of the pressure that these comedians are under to entertain .What stands out is the diversity of comedians .I'm not just writing about nationality ,race, gender ,disability etc, but also the different stages that they are in terms of career and popularity .Its good to see the the respect they show to one another. Some of them may not like one another for all i know, but a show like this ,as long as its not cancelled, will introduce these comedians to a wider audience which is great for them and for the audience and viewers. Great job to all those involved, please keep it coming because we all need a good laugh .

Many of my favorite comedians! I love the backstage parts. Well done to who ever thought of this format! To see the insecurities and nerves is refreshing, they are just like normal people just funnier and more fearless.

Love Katherine Ryan anyways but this is a double whammy as you get all these other great comedians on stage PLUS the backstage pre chat which is hilarious - roll on series 2!
