Interesting concept

I'm always a sucker for a movie shot in Duluth. And this was much better than Strange Nature. A good idea, having a demon you have to feed, and it gets passed down to the next generation. Nicolas Sullivan was great, really want to see him in more things.

One problem I had with the film was the tonal whiplash. It was balancing from being serious to having comical moments. I don't think it was able to balance comedy and horror, give it an issue with tone. But still was fun to see Craig Muckler's head in the microwave, even if it hurt the mood of Russell Brigg's stepfamily being slaughtered.

Overall fun film.

A film that was lacking.

And watching The Hand that Feeds, I saw hole after hole in the plot, and I am not typically someone who looks for nor sees them easily. And the easiest one is why it was so easy to kill the demon and no one thought of it sooner, or find a way to let us know that it's been tried before and failed. One of the real distractions was that the basic idea was good, but how much better it would've been in another directors hands.

The ending was way too simple and the love interest was too lenient on the main character. I thought she was going to be angry because he ruined everything and killed her father, they were going to meet down the road walking by each other, and as she walked away we are somehow let known that the demon is still alive and is following her.

One thing I do notice is when the music is bad, and I picked up on that really quick.

The things I loved about this movie is what they did with the special effects. Don't get me wrong, they were not good, but they got the point of what was going on across well. Asking for more on such a low budget movie probably could have done more harm than good.

I love cheesy acting. There was plenty here. Even the one well-known actor was horrible. It was fantastic. I think it would be selling his bad acting short by saying he was drunk during the interrogation room scene.

Speaking of acting, one person who stood out, way out, from the rest of the herd was Tricia BuerkeI think it would be selling his bad acting short by saying he was drunk during the interrogation room scene.

Speaking of acting, one person who stood out, way out, from the rest of the herd was. I appreciated every scene she was in and wouldn't be upset if she started showing up and bigger budget movies somewhere down the road.

While there is no way a bunch of other people randomly watched this movie and gave it 10 out of 10 stars (Have some pride people), it is still a good enough movie that, even the high rating is bogus, A B-movie horror fan could still get some in for entertainment from it.

Missing the basics

Warning: Spoilers
The Hand that Feeds had too many flaws to be considered good. Not being one to look for errors when I'm watching a movie, too many built up for me to not notice. I've never written a movie, but I failed to see how this was laid out and the holes weren't seen. If the demon killed the man's family randomly, that was one hell of a coincidence. If the demon was doing it to punish his keeper, that wasn't made clear. I don't see how it was knowingly so easy to kill the demon. If it was that easy and inpermanent, there should have been a reason given. The love interest was way too lenient on the lead in the end. I know it would have been low hanging fruit to have them meet down the road, have a conversation, and as she walked away, we find the demon isn't dead in some way and it's following her. Even that ending would have been better than the one we got. One thing that I do notice is bad music. It's easy to pick up in this movie.

The bright side to this movie is the potential it would've had in another director's hands. Knowing that it is a low budget movie, holding the effects against the producers would have been dumb. They are good enough to get the point across. I love cheesy acting, And The Hand that Feeds is full of it. Even the experienced actor they had here was horrible. It was fantastic.

If I had to talk about the bright side of The Hand that Feeds, it would be Tricia Buerke. She is a good actor. I was glad for every scene she was in. If this is one of her earlier tries, I would expect to see her in bigger movies down the road.

There's no way this movie was watched by a bunch of random people who gave it 10/10 stars. I mean, have some pride in your work. That being said, I would say that The Hand that Feeds wouldn't dazzle my fellow B-movie horror fans, but it is a decent watch.

Awful

I think this movie was made over the weekend as a student project. The first thing that tipped me off was the agent Reynolds character. The guy who plays it is awful. His actor portfolio is posted all over the web. He must be desperate for work and I can see why. The movie is basically like every other movie made after 2018. Awful cast, mediocre script, lots of expensive cameras to shoot what you can basically shoot on your phone. I don't know why any director, scriptwriter, casting person would think that an opening scene with some guy just yelling is supposed to be scary. They add some kind of Jurassic Park T-Rex yelling sound to him shaking his head and looking like a WWF mania fan. All of you need to get a clue and realize that you need to come to the table with more than just a camera. Where the hell have all the good actors gone. Where have even the mediocre actors gone?
