Chris Bloomstadt and 'Nick Sanford' both worked at a movie theater in Moore, Oklahoma while shooting this film. Bloomstadt was eventually fired from the job for missing too many days and shooting the film instead.
The person who plays the crazed military officer was intentionally uncredited to give a sense of mystery to the film.
The music that Daniel is always listening to is Grateful Dead. A lot of live recordings from the band were discovered to be royalty free and fair use, so the filmmakers decided to add some "real" music into the film.
It was not uncommon to see producer 'Patchin, Steven' holding the boom mic for several scenes. The "boom mic" was actually just a microphone taped to a hockey stick, much like how Kevin Smith made Clerks (1994)
Some of the wardrobes on characters were based off of characters from other movies. Daniel's clothes in this film are similar to the outfit Tom Cruise wore in War of the Worlds (2005), one of Nick Sanford's favorite films. Also, the style of jeans, a sweatshirt jacket and a long trench coat that Jack wears is similar to the Clive Owen character in Children of Men (2006), another big influence for this film.
