- Sindel, Sheeva, Skarlet, Kitana, Mileena and Jade wear very revealing and skimpy outfits that show a lot of cleavage.
- Mileena's victory pose is quite suggestive.
- For example: When Sonya Blade fights with other chatacters her clothes may rip if she is hit and she show's cleavage, but it never show's her private parts.
- All of the female characters have very big breasts and buttocks that are barely covered by clothing.
- Lots of breast jiggling
- During the course of the game, some female characters wear outfits that expose medium amount of cleavage.
- Mileena's third costume is depicted partially nude, covered by a costume of thin cloth strips.
Violence & Gore

- Much more violent and graphic than its predecessors. It should be noted that this game is so incredibly violent that it has been banned in Germany, Australia, Malaysia and South Korea. In the cases of Germany and Asutralia, however, this ban lasted until these two countries edited their calification systems and promptly lifted the ban. The violence however, is only ramped up to the next level in "Mortal Kombat X" and "Mortal Kombat 11", which are far more violent.
- This game includes x-rays. When your bar at the bottom left (or right) corner fills in, players have the options to preform an x-ray which is different for every character and it includes breaking bones (which you can see in x-ray mode, hence the name). Additionally, as the battle progresses, characters will be shown bloody and bruised, with clothes torn out and damaged, as well as the presence of peeled skin, lacerated muscle and tissue, inner organs, and multiple cuts and injuries.
- All the "Fatalities" include:
- Split Decision: Scorpion unsheathes his sword and slashes his opponent through the waist. He then cuts his opponent's neck and delivers a powerful side-kick into their torso. As the head comes falling down, he slices it vertically in half.
- Nether Gates: Scorpion takes out his spear and stabs his opponent in the chest, then wraps it around the opponent's neck. He then opens up a portal leading to the Netherrealm behind them, and kicks them in it. Afterwards, a portal opens up above him. His opponent falls out of it, their skin is melted off as they are now suspended in midair by Scorpion's spear in a position resemblant to hanging.
- The Beast Within: A variant of Liu Kang's signature Fatality, Dragon Bite, he morphs into a large dragon with a chrome-like appearance and flames coming from the nostrils, and chomps the upper body of his opponent.
- Fist of Flame: Liu Kang bows and charges his hand with fire, then punches his fist through his opponent's chest and pulls it back out, leaving his arm bloodied and the opponent with a gaping wound in their chest as they collapse onto the ground in defeat.
- Razor's Edge: Kung Lao kicks his opponent to the ground, then takes off his hat and makes it roll continuously on the ground like a buzzsaw. He then drags his opponent through the hat, groin first, bisecting them in half, then goes and lifts up the bifurcated victim by his/her legs.
- Hat Trick: Kung Lao throws his hat past his opponent. The hat comes back like a boomerang, decapitating the opponent. Kung Lao quickly catches his hat and vertically bisects the opponent's body in half. He then places the hat back on and flicks the blood off of the edge. This Fatality is a combination of his Body Slice and Hat Decaptiation Fatalities.
- Have an Ice Day: Sub-Zero freezes his opponent from the foot up to the waist. He then rips the opponent's torso off and holds the victim's bleeding torso in victory.
- Spinal Smash: Sub-Zero rips the opponent's spine and skull out through their chest. He then freezes the opponent's body and smashes it with the spine.
- Migraine: Sindel screams into her opponent's ear, tearing the opposite half of their head apart.
- Mouthful: Sindel conjures an energy ball by screaming on her hand, and proceeds to shove it into her opponent's mouth. She holds their mouth closed until their head explodes.
- Mind Over Splatter: Ermac lifts his opponent in the air with his powers, then rips off their arms and legs. He then smashes them headfirst into the ground, crushing their head.
- Pest Control: Ermac shrinks the opponent in a comical fashion with his powers, causing them to start running around in fear (except for Kratos, who will yell at Ermac instead). Ermac then violently stomps on the shrunken opponent, and proceeds to wipe his boot off on the ground. This Fatality is somewhat similar to Jax's Boot Squash Fatality in Mortal Kombat 3, but here Ermac does not grow in size.
- Acid Yak: Reptile forces his opponent's mouth open, then vomits acid directly into it. He then plunges his hand into his opponent's body and rips out their mutilated stomach, leaving a gaping, bloody hole in their abdomen.
- Weight Loss: Reptile turns invisible and slits the opponent's throat and stomach, causing blood to spew out. He then plants an Acid Force Ball deep into the gap of the opponent's stomach, causing their upper body to explode in a few seconds. He then hisses in delight.
- Fan Opener: Kitana uses her fans to chop off the opponent's arms before slicing their head off at the jaw line as they drop to the ground.
- Splitting Headache: Kitana drives one of her fans into her opponent's body and opens it up, slicing through the front. She then does the same to the head, whereby the opponent collapses.
- Heads Up: Cage decapitates his opponent with an uppercut, then rips off their torso and slams it onto the ground, bouncing their severed head into the air. Cage catches it and holds it up. This Fatality is a combination of his Head Pop and Torso Rip Fatalities.
- And The Winner Is...: Johnny Cage karate chops the opponent's head in half and takes out a trophy. He then says, "And the award goes to..." and plants the trophy in between the two chopped halves of the opponent's head. Then while the announcer proclaims Cage's victory, Johnny pushes the still-standing opponent to the ground with his finger.
- Head-A-Rang: Jade throws her Razorang at the opponent, cutting off their head. The head stays on the opponent's body as if it wasn't cut. Jade then kicks the body away, letting the head fall off. As she kneels down to catch the opponent's head with one hand, she catches the returning Razorang with the other.
- Half Mast: Jade kicks the opponent upward into the air and plants her staff onto the ground. As the opponent is impaled on the staff upon landing, she rips off his/her head and puts it on the top of the staff.
- Be Mine: Mileena throws both of her sais into the opponent's torso. She walks over to them and seductively embraces them, only to rip their head off and chew on it. She then throws it to the ground and moans positively.
- Rip Off: Mileena hurls both of her sais, one at a time, into her opponent's feet. She then rips off their body from their upper legs and moans positively. This Fatality is similar to Kira's Torso Rip Fatality in Deception.
- Ascension: A variation of his Energy Channel Fatality, Nightwolf charges up his spiritual daggers with lightning, and plants them in the opponent's shoulders. He then summons a giant beam of light, that comes down and melts the opponent's flesh.
- Little Off The Top: This is a combination of both of Nightwolf's Deception Fatalities. Nightwolf throws his tomahawk at the opponents head, then takes out another one to decapitate him/her. He then raises the axe in victory, with the head still attached.
- Buzz Kill: Cyrax turns his hand into a sawblade and slices his opponent with it. Cyrax finishes the job by kicking the opponent, making him/her fall down in pieces. In his alternate human form, the sawblade comes out from one of his armbands.
- Nothing but Net: After entering some coordinates into his arm module, Cyrax fires an energy net that passes straight through the enemy. The opponent screams as they see their arms fall off, then fall to pieces shortly afterward. In his alternate human form, the net is obtained from his pocket.
- Smoked Out: Smoke jams his fingers into the opponent's skull and injects smoke into them. As he lets go, the extreme heat starts to sear the opponent's body from the inside. The excess heat begins to percolate from the opponent's body, gushing blood and their flesh melting off before falling dead.
- Tremor: Smoke does his Smoke Towards move and goes through the opponent. When he reappears, the opponent begins to internally combust, then falls to pieces from the endothermic heat, starting with the top of the skull separating from the mandible and the rest of the body soon afterwards from the key joints.
- Robo-Sek: Sektor deploys four missiles from his frame that hover at his side as he locks on to the victim before releasing a fifth missile from his chest cavity that blows the opponent's head, torso and arms off. As they fly into the air, the other missiles find their mark and strike the disembodied body parts, vaporizing them as the legs finally collapse. In his alternate human form, the first four missiles are obtained from a throwable and the fifth missile is launched from the armband.
- The Scarecrow: Sektor launches a device onto his dazed opponent's chest. He then enters a code to his arm and the device separates, tearing apart the arms, legs, torso, and head. In his human form, he throws the device from his hand instead of firing it from his chest.
- Scissor Split: Sonya lifts up her opponent by her legs, holding them up momentarily before ripping the body apart by splitting her legs.
- Kut-Throat: Sonya takes out a garrote wire, puts it at her opponent's throat and flips over their head. She then decapitates the opponent with a forward tug.
- Smash And Grab: Jax crushes his opponent's head with a single clap, then rips both their arms out of the sockets. This Fatality is a combination of his signature Head Clap and Arm Rip Fatalities.
- Three Points!: Jax bashes his opponent three times, burying them into the ground. He then kicks their head twice. The first one puts the opponent in a daze, and the second one comically launches the opponent's head off like a football.
- Heartbreak: A variation of his signature Heart Rip Fatality, Kano turns the opponent around and punches the heart out through his victim's back, holding it so they can see it. He then crushes the heart in his hands, pulls it back out and hoists it in the air while blood still pumps out.
- Eat Your Heart Out: Another variation of his signature Fatality, Kano rips the heart out of his opponent's chest, then proceeds to rip off their head. He jams the opponent's head into the hole in their chest and kicks them away.
- Time Served: Stryker electrocutes his opponent with his taser, then graphically shoots their head with his pistol, causing their head above the jawline to explode.
- Have a Blast: Stryker takes out a grenade, unpins it, and lodges it into the opponent's stomach before turning away. The grenade explodes in their stomach within seconds, leaving their burning lower body on the floor.
- Up the Middle: Baraka slices off the opponent's arms, then impales them through the chest with one of his arm blades before slicing the opponent vertically in half with the other blade. Baraka then lifts up an half of the opponent's body still attached to his blade in victory.
- Take a Spin: Baraka impales the opponent in the stomach with his blade, lifting them over his head, then he spins them around while using his other blade to cut off their arms, legs, and head.
- Hook Up: Kabal kicks his foe upward into the air and slices them in half vertically with his hooksword, with the head impaled on the hooksword upon impact..
- Just A Scratch: Raiden charges two bolts of lightning and fires them at the opponent's arms, blowing them off, causing the victim to look at their stumps in a dazed shock. Then he fires another two at his/her legs, blowing them off, causing the victim to fall to the ground still upright. He then grabs his opponent and slams his/her head onto the ground behind him, crushing it, with blood spraying out of the stumps.
- Transplant: Raiden teleports behind the opponent and rips out the brain and heart from the opponent. He then charges them and puts them back into place. The head begins to glow as he manipulates the charges, and blows up, then the torso explodes shortly afterwards, leaving behind just the victim's lower-half.
- Kold Fusion: Cyber Sub-Zero enters a code on his arm and then jumps onto his opponent, freezing both of them in the process. They both eventually explode into shards of ice, leaving only the opponent's legs. This Fatality resembles the Hara-Kiri Finishers of Mortal Kombat: Deception, as well as Cyrax's MK3 Self-Destruct Fatality, further giving him resemblance to Cyrax.
- Brain Freeze: Cyber Sub-Zero fires two Shurikens from his chest, one into each of the opponent's eyes. He then charges an ice blast and fires it while shooting a third shuriken. Both shurikens in the eye sockets get into the opponent's brain, where they spin in place, shredding it, which is shown in a fashion similar to the X-Ray moves. Finally, the opponent enters rigor mortis, freezes in a comical pose with their limbs twitching in awkward ways, and falls to the ground, dead.
- Stripped Down: Grabbing a handful of flesh in each of her four fists, Sheeva pulls her opponent's skin away in two pieces, in an upward motion. She then kicks the opponent's skinless body away, then lifts the skin in victory.
- Lend A Hand: Sheeva rips her opponent's arms off with her lower arms, then slaps them twice in the face with their severed arms, the second slap breaking their neck. Oddly enough, they still scream after their neck is snapped from the finisher. She then kicks them, and proceeds to clap with their severed arms.
- Beat Down: Quan Chi grabs and rips off one of his opponent's legs and beats the helpless victim's head twice, causing it to explode, before proceeding to beat the rest of the body with the victim's severed leg.
- On Your Knees: Quan Chi summons a green broadsword and does a quick spin, slicing his opponent's shins off. As the opponent lands on their stumps still upright, Quan Chi slices off their head. He then catches the head as it falls down and holds it up in victory.
- Blood Bath: Skarlet takes one of her ninja swords and stabs her opponent in through the ear. She then takes the other sword and slashes her opponent's throat, holding them back as she lets their blood gush on her face.
- Make It Rain: Skarlet stabs herself with her sword. She then becomes a puddle of blood and moves underneath the opponent. She then creates blood pillars, which stab the hands and legs of the opponent, causing them to elevate. Skarlet appears under the opponent, slices their stomach and proceeds to bathe in the blood and chunks of flesh that pour out from their wound.
- Scatterbrained: Kenshi slams the opponent a few times on the camera, with a final smash removing the victim's eyeball from its socket. As the eyeball slides down the screen, Kenshi finishes the opponent off with a clean diagonal slice across the chest with Sento. In the PlayStation Vita version of the game, the cut is changed to a straight vertical down the middle.
- Split Ends: Kenshi telekinetically picks up the opponent. He gets out Sento and throws it further down the stage, landing on its tip. He then pushes the opponent head first into Sento, slicing them vertically in half.
- Bubble Burst: Rain summons a large ball of water around the victim's head, and then forces it down their throat, causing them to inflate and then explode.
- Does it Sting?: Rain conjures a ball of water below the opponent to snap their legs, breaking them off. He then manipulates the water around his arm and shapes it into a highly pressurized blade to cut off the opponent's head through the jawline.
- Tell 'Em Freddy Sent Ya: Freddy disappears from view, then reappears behind the opponent. He impales the opponent and summons a hole. He then drags them into the hole. Afterwards, the hole spews a huge amount of blood.
- Welcome to My Nightmare: Freddy summons a large furnace. He then stabs the opponent in the neck and stomach, and chucks them straight into the furnace. As they burn in agony, Freddy waves goodbye and shuts the door, cutting their arm off, and burning them to death.
- Blade of Olympus: Kratos stabs the opponent with both Blades of Exile, wrenching out pieces of flesh as they are removed. As the opponent tries to stop the bleeding, Kratos draws the Blade of Olympus and drives it through their chest, finally slicing vertically through their torso. After a while, the sliced body stops moving and falls. Kratos then drives the blade into the ground, growling.
- Medusa's Gaze: Kratos pulls out Medusa's Head and turns the opponent into stone. He then equips the Nemean Cestus and lunges through the opponent, shattering them into tiny pieces.
- Disconnect Four: Goro grabs the opponent's head and tears it off with two arms. He then grabs it with his two other arms and tears it into 4 quarters.
- Torn Apart: Goro grabs the opponent with his upper hands and rips off the enemy's legs with his bottom hands. He flips them upside down and rips off their arms, and finally vertically rips the body in half.
- Quad Rip: Kintaro grabs his opponent with each of his arms. He then begins to pull outwards, eventually ripping the opponent into four pieces.
- Reverse Rip: Kintaro turns the enemy around, grabs their arms and head. He rips off the arms and head and then breaks the head into two pieces.
- Home Run: Shao Kahn grabs the opponent by the neck and flips them in the air, and smashes them to pieces with his hammer as they fall.
- Double Down: Shao Kahn jabs his hands into the middle of his foe's torso and slowly rips their body in half down the middle.
- As One: Noob creates a portal below the opponent, and his shadow clone comes out and grabs his/her torso. When the opponent's legs are through the portal, Noob closes it, crushing the midsection, and leaving the victim crawling on the floor to bleed to death.
- Bang Bang!: Parodying The Joker's first MKvsDCU Fatality, Shang Tsung transforms into an evil looking clown, takes out a gun and fires, but it is fake and instead a flag with the word 'Bang!' comes out of the gun. He drops it and starts to laugh. With the opponent in a bit of shock, anger and confusion, the clown then pulls out a real gun and shoots the opponent in the head, blowing the head to pieces, and proceeds to laugh maniacally.
- Identity Theft: Shang Tsung enters his opponent's body and has them rip their own head off. Tsung then leaves the opponent's body and laughs maniacally in satification. This Fatality is nearly identical to Liu Kang's Soul Invasion Fatality in Deception, but here Tsung simply leaves his victim's body once the deed is done.
- It Takes Guts: Kabal stabs his hookswords into his opponent's abdomen and rips their intestines out. As the opponent falls to the ground, he plants his swords onto the ground with the blades facing upward, and the opponent falls into the blades, impaling their shoulders in the process.
- Very very gory but not as gory as mkx or mk11 (mk1 the new one coming out is gonna be even more gory)
- Make a Wish: Noob summons his shadow clone and each one grabs one of the opponent's legs. They then start pulling until the opponent is completely ripped in half. They each then hold up the halves of the victim.
Profanity

- Johnny Cage says swears in story mode
- Language such as "fuck" occasionally appears in the dialogue. This is the only bit of profanity that appears in the entire game.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

- In a place called the Krypt, where players can unlock costumes, fatalities, etc., a creature occasionally pops out and a loud screech accompanies it. This is very startling, and happens at random and the players cannot control it.
- In the area of the game called the krypt, there is a large area where unamed people are seen in torture dungeon type contraptions and whenever you interact with them, they go off, killing whoever was bound. They are also screaming all the time in pain
- When using some fatalities on Mileena, she lets out an incredibly agonizing gut-wrecking scream that could disturb some players.
- Some characters, fatalities, and stages can be frightening.

Sex & Nudity
- When Kitana finds Mileena, she is shown naked only wearing as clothes strips of paper (or something like that) covering her private parts. As she gets up from a platform, we see the upper half of her buttocks.
- Sindel Returns naked, nudity is partial in this scene, you can see her boobs just a bit from her back. This scene lasts for 2-4 minutes.
