Annoying
km244214 February 2021
This one got on my nerves. Molly was overbearing, but her sister and the fiancé were stupid. They gripes about so many things they agreed to and knew were going to happen. Like how they reluctantly agreed to be filmed as part of an entire wedding being paid for, but then were upset about the videos being online later on. That's childish and a plot device to put more blame on Molly for taking over. Just irritating, shallow characters and lazy writing all around.

A painfully boring slog.
Racingphan27 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Oh goodness, I've never regretted watching a movie more. Brandan Penny is basically a piece of wood with hair. Brooke D'Orsay is still playing the same character she did in Drop Dead Diva and Royal Pains. She has a terrific smile, but that's about it. Actually, the actress playing the potential bride was prettier and a much better actor. She should be the lead next time.

Poor writing and editing
suzanne-iovaldi8 February 2021
This movie had potential in the actors, supporting cast and diversity, set location. However it fell short because of the poorly written story with lots of gaps and editing that left more to be desired. The leads, and entire cast, were owed more.

Ugh the characters were annoying af
TexasStarDallas9 February 2021
I hate to be negative, because I love hallmark movies! But this movie lacked so much! The characters were annoying! ALL OF THEM ! CRINGE (molly)D' ORSAY AS THE MAID OF HONOR and sister (she was so fake and cheesy.) The groom character was so disconnected, as a actor just seemed off. They Were UNlikable characters. Normally you grow to love and fight for at least one character. I did like the Beverly Hills wedding coordinator lol. Maybe different actor, actresses it could've been a better show. Thankful we will quit seeing ( and hearing ) the commercial for this movie with the Beverly Hills song since it has aired now....the commercial for this movie was annoying af too!

Not a bomb, but...
shobbs-860818 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It seems strange to say it, but the gay couple in a supporting role were the most convincing love story in this misfired "romance" about an Oregon couple winning a Beverly Hills wedding. Of course, they want a normal wedding and the maid of honor eggs on the glitz and hoopla they refuse. The ending doesn't work if you really think about it.

A Constant Stream of Whining
spikeluvr9 February 2021
I usually like the leads but this movie had no redeeming qualities. I don't know who was more annoying, the bride's sister or the whiny groom. Maybe the groom's brother should have married the bride. They were the only normal people in the movie. It took until fifteen minutes before the end for anyone to "see the light". The bride's sister wasn't just a typical, domineering older sister. She was a pushy nightmare steamrolling everyone into a wedding she had no real reason to want for them. The groom was petty and deliberately boorish. Who demands beer instead of champagne at their wedding? Why not just ask for both? Who demands cobbler instead of a wedding cake? I doubt most guys care that much about those details. And poor Matthew MacCaull had to play this over the top wedding planner straight out of Father of the Bride minus the charm of Martin Short. They didn't even get costume details correct. The bride's dress did NOT have a sweetheart neckline. All it would take is a Google search to find the correct name or don't say what kind of neckline it has. Hallmark should start paying attention to the viewer reviews in IMDB. A lot of them are saying they need better writers and they're spot on. The writing on this movie was terrible and the actors suffer for it. It's impossible for them to give a good performance with such a lousy script.

Sweet film
prof-colburn-tlbc7 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Loved the idea of a couple being sweethearts from childhood. The script was well-written--as usual for a Hallmark film. It was sweet that the bride wanted to wear her mother's wedding dress--I was so disappointed that the dress she wore looked nothing like what she described: a v-neck looks nothing like a sweetheart neckline.

Implausible and vexing
MickyG33319 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
6.4 stars.

This film is about two sisters who dated/are dating two brothers. Hallmark doesn't do that particular combination very often, if ever. One pair of the brother sister quartet is getting married and the whole wedding experience is bittersweet. There is so much forsaken potential with this film.

As the story goes, the secondary brother Jordan asks the secondary sister Sophia to marry him as the primary sister Molly (D'Orsay) documents it all in pictures. She is a photographer after all (so cliché). Jordan seems so excited to marry his one and only, and yet the rest of the film is all about his reluctance to participate in what he feels to be a pretentious wedding. Molly had entered them into a win a free wedding contest and as luck would have it, they won. The wedding takes place in Beverly Hills, all expenses paid. The primary brother Cory (Penny) is sowing seeds of doubt in his brother Jordan from the start and you can see how they feed off each other's reservations at every turn. I find these bizarre tendencies to be disconcerting, and the film suffers for it almost immediately. Not to mention Molly's disdain for Cory as soon as he enters the picture. They once dated when they were young, but he's been off sailing and building boats for years. Needless to say, she does not appreciate his presence, but unfortunately for her, he is the best man.

Jordan's ongoing hesitancy for this opulent Beverly Hills wedding only comes off as pessimistic and impotent. Terrence, a very wealthy gay man, who is the originator and host of the contest, explains all the details of this magnificent event and how it will be documented for social media hype; but this only serves to cause more uncertainty for Jordan. On the other hand, the sisters are overjoyed at the whole notion of a lavish event while the brothers interrupt the plans with meager attempts to insert old-fashioned ideas.

I have to say this movie is yet another failed attempt to entertain, all the while emasculating the men to fit uncomfortably into effeminate gender roles and fade into the background. I am understandably annoyed at the political correctness slapping me in the face. Hallmark, if you haven't noticed you are neck deep in wokeness. I believe my warnings fall on deaf ears.

D'Orsay's ability to create tension with her sarcasm and resentment is top notch and I would not wish to rub her the wrong way. After witnessing her aversion to him it's obvious they are mismatched and would never have the potential of rekindling the relationship. This is yet another plot misfire as D'Orsay sells her rendition of a slighted ex-girlfriend too convincingly. As we expect, they eventually mend fences, but I'm not persuaded this would be a realistic outcome.

As the wedding plans are fully underway, the reticence of the men rubs off on the bride and soon she is withdrawn and gloomy. Molly's disregard for her sister's wishes also contributes to the insensitive climate of the whole affair. Next, we are taken to Terrence's mansion in Beverly Hills, where we meet his husband Gary and where wedding preparation is now in high gear. At the mansion Terrence's assistant Kendall incorporates dance lessons for the quartet. Now we see a transition in Cory from naysayer to proponent of some pageantry and fun, but Jordan is still a bit of a wet blanket. Noticeably this story has taken a sudden about face.

The director incorporates feeble attempts to reverse the brothers' wedding sentiments and manufacture overdue chemistry between Molly and Cory; but In reality there would be no possible resurgence of a hopeful outcome no matter how you spin this "Beverly Hills Wedding".

Worst Wedding Movie Ever!
MovieTVRomanceFan20 August 2021
I have seen a lot of wedding films, but I have Never Ever seen a movie quite like this one. It was so bad. It was beyond bad that I don't even have any words to describe just how Bad It Was. It was so terrible from start to finish. Honestly the only character I actually like is Cory the brother/best man. I hate how Molly kept trying to force the wedding on her sister and soon to be brother-in-law. She quickly lost focus and only cared about what she wanted and as for her romance with her ex... I did not feel any connection between them and all the bickering wasn't helping their relationship either. Plus I feel like we didn't get much focus on Cory at all. Too much Molly and not enough Cory.

As for the bride and groom... I liked them, but they were also annoying since Sophia aka the bride pretty much let Molly get away with a lot in this film and I got where Jordan aka the groom was coming from. This wasn't the wedding he or Sophia had in mind, but all his constant complaining was beyond annoying and he never gave anything a chance. Plus the wedding planner was supposed to be helping the bride and groom, but he acted more like Molly's partner in crime, trying to force the couple into a big fancy wedding when all they wanted was something simple. Overall, this is one of the Worst Wedding Films I Have Ever Seen and I Will Never EVER Watch It Again!

The Ruined Wedding
rustydalek-3791131 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Molly was always known as a busybody, but this time she's crossed the line. After her sister gets engaged, our meddlesome protagonist decides to enter her sibling into a contest for a "Beverly Hills Wedding". Her sister wins, meaning she and her fiance are swept into the slimy world of the superficial rich, trapped planning a bloated mess of a wedding that is light-years off from what they wanted. Of course, there are no tangible consequences for meddling Molly, who uses the fiasco to reconnect with her ex-boyfriend, the best man. We are left wondering if Molly set this whole disaster in motion out of spite, or if she's just that clueless. I don't really want to know; viewing this once was enough.

Bland, Even for Hallmark
vintagegeek-9746514 February 2021
We couldn't believe how bland this was. Almost no emotion from anyone. Dialogue was nearly monotone from every character. I think the father and aunt were the only two who smiled before the finale. Definitely not an annual valentines watch.

Groom is ungrateful and sends a poor message
krparker-6534230 May 2021
I really wanted to love this movie, but it was kind of disappointing. The complaining groom cast a dark shadow over the entire movie and sent a poor message - lack of gratitude. I liked the maid of honor - she's always a favorite - and the wedding planner was also likeable - but this movie missed the mark somehow. Super disappointed.

Constant bickering is the new Hallmark rule
franksjolynn9 February 2021
Fight, argue and dislike between the two main characters is the new Hallmark way! Every single movie this season is the same. This film holds true to the new cookie cutter style of movie, except for the last 4 minutes of course. I can't watch many more of these!

Enjoyed it, good thing I read all the reviews afterwards
bmiller5911 February 2021
I always attempt to read the reviews and look at rating(s) after we watch the movie. Wow...there were quite a few negative reviews, so I guess I was amongst the few who enjoyed it. Yea, we all look at and evaluate movies in different pairs of eyes, so I would never disparage those who ripped this movie, along with Brooke and Brendan. I like Brooke a lot and Brendan is growing on me, they are both very authentic and in my eyes they were that way here too. I look at the chemistry between the leads, and I likes it.

Yea, a predictable movie with its evolution and ending, but that's what HM delivers, so go along with the ride.

Would I watch it again? Probably.

BRENDAN/BROOKE WASTED HERE
danw-167-22472015 February 2021
Ghastly script...taking over her sister's wedding and steamrolling both bride and groom into a lavish unwanted event just because it's all free and might propel her career is wrong on nearly every front. I look forward to any Brendan Penny movie and have enjoyed Brooke D'Orsay since Royal Pains but lordy this was a slog. Rate this one at the rock bottom of the barrel.

A wedding that is absolutely worth skipping
TheLittleSongbird21 January 2022
Am not saying this with pleasure and am hardly a serial Hallmark detractor, a long way from that. The story didn't sound anything special, but Hallmark have more than once made something worth watching out of nothing special stories. Brooke D'Orsay has been very charming in many other films, although her filmography is not consistent. Brendan Penny is more take and leave (mostly watchable) and it has always been dependent on the character in question and what he is given in the script.

'Beverly Hills Wedding' just doesn't work at all and fails in nearly every area. Am one of those people who has always tried to see good in the bad, though there are films etc where it is hard to find any good. 'Beverly Hills Wedding' comes very close to being one of those films but manages to be not quite irredeemable. Of Hallmark's 2021 Love Ever After films, this to me has got to be down there as among the worst. There are some watchable 2021 Hallmark films, but 'Beverly Hills Wedding' isn't one of them.

There are two things that stop 'Beverly Hills Wedding' from being completely disposable. One is the production values, which are quite nice. The scenery particularly.

Matthew MacCaull deserves some credit for being the only person who tries in the whole film and doing so without resorting to scenery-chewing.

D'Orsay however has never been more irritating and Emma Johnson overacts one of the most annoying film characters of 2021. Meanwhile Penny and Ben Sullivan look completely miserable throughout, Penny particularly looked as if he didn't want to be there. All the chemistry is disconnected between everybody, especially the underdeveloped central one. Count me in as another person who intensely disliked, and even downright hated, pretty much all the characters excepting MacCaull's. Especially Johnson.

Also risible is the excessively cheesy and repetitive script, that goes well overkill on the childish and whiny bickering to the point that you want the characters to shut up. The story is paper thin and has no surprises, charm, fun or heart whatsoever. Much of it drags as a result of stretching the thin material out too much and the middle act is just cringe-worthy beyond words. The direction lacks distinction, the music is forgettable at best and the too pat and undeserved ending can be seen from miles off.

Overall, very, very poor. 2/10.

So much ungratefulness
mariemiller-9767814 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited to watch this movie being a big fan of Brooke, however a few minutes in, the grim groom character is so unappreciative and ungrateful, I could barely watch until the end. The bride is constantly making excuses and trying to cheer up her husband to be. The whole thing has an icky, bratty feel to it. The wedding planner and his husband were the best characters of this train wreck. In real life that wedding planner would have dropped them like a bad habit. I hope this pattern isn't repeated.

Horrible middle
Jackbv12314 February 2021
There was a nice beginning with the sweet proposal and setting up the photos to catch the moments. There was a sweet ending, but I won't describe it. The middle was absolutely cringeworthy.

I have loved Brooke D'Orsay since Royal Pains and everything she's done on Hallmark. She should have stayed home for this one. I thought her acting was poor, but maybe that was what the director wanted. Her overreactions to Cory in the early scenes were terrible. She probably got whiplash. The character of Molly was probably what the writers wanted, but between Molly's being pushy and Jordan's negativity it made the middle of the movie drag badly for a Rom/com. Usually the bride is the zilla, but in this case it was the maid of honor. I'm a little surprised the wedding planner isn't a little more sensitive to what the bride and groom want, but maybe not in Beverly Hills.

I prefer this type of movie to give more screen time to the lead couple growing, or renewing, their relationship. There was far too little of that. D'Orsay and Brendan Penny probably could have had chemistry, but between Molly's whiplash and too little positive screen time, I didn't see it.

I did like Emma Johnson.

For once there was a story that didn't have every formula trope known to rom/coms, but having a couple is unavoidable.

Poor Brennan Penny
jewhitmer2522 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Normally I love every movie Brennan Penny makes but.... oh my. There was no chemistry between Brennan Penny as Cory and Brooke D'Orsay as Molly. Brennan's best scenes were when he was alone on screen, like when Molly was photographing him.

I give this film a 3 , just because Brennan Penny is in it and he tried so hard.

Plot - Pushy, irritating sister/Maid-of-Honor Molly hijacks the planning of her sisters wedding, Supposedly because she wants her sister to have her dream wedding but it became more of an opportunity for her to advance her own career than about her sisters "dream wedding".

Brennan gave an Oscar quality performance when he was supposed to have fallen in love with Molly again. But it was so unrealistic given that Molly was stiff and unlikable. Poor Brennan.

I don't know if Molly's bad acting was the result of bad directing or just bad acting. But she was nothing but irritating from beginning to end. I kept wishing for Lacey Chabert, Nikki DeLoach. Bethany Joy Lenz or Alison Sweeney. So many really talented Hallmark actresses and the casting department picked a lemon. Poor Brennan.

When the bride is asked about her dream wedding dress she describes her mother's dress with a sweetheart neckline and an empire waist. But Molly and the wedding planner completely ignored her desires by pushing nothing poufy, flouncy, ruffled dresses that only a princess could carry off. The poor bride, instead of looking happy and beautiful while trying on wedding gowns, looks like she is miserable and ready to cry.

The groom objects to seaweed, cold, raw fish and other modern cuisine, ok, surely the food preferences of the bride and groom should be considered. They were not advocating serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, just something simpler and more normal. Cornish game hens, prime rib, beef wellington all make impressive entrees that a normal person could relate to.

Also, considering the groom is an Oregon farmer and the bride is a school teacher, all their friends and potential wedding guests are from that area.

So do you really think their friends can afford to travel to Beverly Hills, pay for a couple nights in a hotel plus meals, pay for new clothes to suit the event and give a wedding gift, .Probably not. When you have a destination wedding, you have to expect that some guests might not be able to afford the trip.

When the wedding finally happened she was supposedly wearing her mother's wedding gown there was no sweetheart neckline or empire waist. Did the costume department not read the script.

They could have a Beverly Hills quality wedding without being in Beverly Hills.

Poor script, poor plot, poor acting.

My advice - skip this one.

Molly and Cory's chemistry was natural! Not overplayed. I would like to see a love story unfold for them but stick with the story line This movie was charming. This is by far one of my favorite Hallmark films, as of now.

The Groom ruined....
laquitaygreen16 January 2022
The groom was absolutely horrible!! He was a man child the whole movie and it was super annoying! This movie would have went over much better had the groom not whined the entire movie! Who doesn't want to take advantage of a free wedding?! Plus the brides dress was nothing like she described so why did Hallmark make it a point?! This movie just didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy instead it sucked!
