Eneh comes home and finds the front door open. She goes in moves slowly through the house. Her fraternal twin Adaora comes out, having come in the front door. Adaora says that she hasn't seen Eneh much because she has a test coming up as well as her full-time nursing job. She tells Eneh that as soon as she has her MBA in Healthcare Administration, she can start getting people the care they deserve.
Adaora shows Eneh the shrine to Shango that she's set up, and her sister that she'll need all the protection she can get. She shows her a book and they sit down to read it. They thumb through it to the story of "the Two Brothers", which about two brothers who can speak with just their minds. One day the younger brother died, and the older brother heard voices in his head.
Adaora clutches at a sudden pain in her head, and tells Eneh that it's just a headache. She says that they'll finish the story the next day and goes to bed. Once Adaora leaves, Eneh continues reading the story. She hears squelching sounds from the next room. Eneh investigates and finds Adaora sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace. Adaora is pulling at her head, and when Eneh comes over Adaora stares at her in shock.
Eneh wakes up from her nightmare and goes to Adaora's bedroom, and finds her convulsing in pain on the floor. Eneh takes Adaora to the hospital, and they end up waiting. She sees one patient who got there before them and the doctor is seeing hr. Eneh talks to the doctor and says that Adaora may have had stroke, and understands things as a nurse.
The doctor tells Eneh that she should wait for the attending, and it doesn't appear to be an emergency. He points out that drug use can generate the same symptoms, and takes offense when Eneh suggests that her treatment is being delayed because she's black.
As the doctor tells Eneh that Adaora will have to wait her turn, or Eneh can take her to another hospital. Adaora goes into convulsions and falls off the bed. Later, the doctor checks Adaora and confirms that she had a stroke and is now in a vegetative state. She tells the doctor that if he had listened to her, Adaora might have been diagnosed and treated earlier.
The doctor tells Eneh that she has some decisions to make, and may need to take Adaora to a hospice facility to get the treatment she needs. Eneh refuses to give up on her.
The next day, Eneh is sitting at Adaora's beside at the hospice, Serenity Valley. The day goes by, and that night the door of her room closes and locks, seemingly on its own. A creature peers around the footboard of the other patients' bed and says Adaora and Eneh's names, and Adaora can see it and calls for help in her mind.
The next morning, an old woman in the bed next to Adaora says that she doesn't want to be alone when the darkness comes. There is a festering fruit next to her, and Eneh goes to complain to the nurse, Lucy. Lucy says that she does the best she can and says that there aren't enough nurses there and management doesn't care.
Eneh says that she's going to talk to management, and Lucy says that it won't do any good. They go back to Adaora's room, and as Lucy tends to the other woman, Adaora she tells Eneh that Adaora is lucky to have her twin there because a lot of people don't have anyone. Eneh points out that most people don't realize that they're twins, and Lucy notes that she can sense they have powers.
Adaora stares off into space, and Lucy tells her to keep talking to Adaora and it might help her wake up. Once Lucy leaves, Eneh opens the story book, thumbs through the pages, and tells Adaora to tell her when to stop. Adaora moves her finger and Eneh calls Lucy back in, but Adaora shows no signs of activity. Lucy tells Eneh to keep talking to Adaora.
That night, the creature climbs up on the other woman's bed and roars. Eneh experience what her sister is seeing, and finds herself unable to move as the creature lunges at her. It rips the sheets off of Eneh... and she wakes up from the shared images.
The next day, Eneh goes to Adaora and massages her feet, and finds the old woman sitting on her bed, muttering to herself. Eneh goes over to her, and she says that after the creature is done it will come for Eneh next. Eneh goes over to Adaora and begs her to wake up. Adaora "speaks" to her, and Eneh admits that she's scared and breaks into tears. Lucy comes in and tells Eneh that she needs to be strong for Adaora.
That night at home, Eneh goes to bed and reams of the hospital room. Adaora sees the creature come around the footboard of the old woman and grab her throat, and suck the life energy from her. The woman dies, and the creature looks over at Adaora and roars.
Eneh experiences it, and the she can't move as a robed woman approaches her. The woman gestures and. The nun gestures and Eneh grabs the storybook and reads the story. Meanwhile, the creature climbs onto Adaora's bed and prepares to feed on her.
The story says that the younger brother knocked on the older brother's door, begging him to let him into his mind. Eneh realizes that the robed women is Adaora, and she hears Adaora begging her to come to her and hurry.
Eneh goes to the hospital and discovers that the door into the ward is locked. The creature drains Adaora of her life force, and Eneh takes out the figure of Shango that she brought with her and begs the god for help. Adaora enters Eneh's mind and lends her her strength, and Adaora slams a pitcher into the creature's head.
The creature continues draining the energy from Adaora, and the two sisters mentally pray to Shango, asking him for strength to fight the evil. The creature howls in pain and flies back into the shadows. Adaora falls out of the bed and crawls to the hallway, where a comatose Eneh is sitting. Grabbing her sister, Adaora calls for help and Lucy hears her and comes running.
Later, the hospice is under Eneh's management. The people are happy, and Eneh deals with them. Adaora and Lucy watch her with a patient, and Lucy says that the patients love Adaora. The two sisters talk mentally.
That night, Eneh is tending to a sleeping patient and hears the creature growling. She goes to a nearby shrine of Shango and lights a creature. The creature is outside, peering in the window, and retreats before Shango's power.

I swore I woke up. But the monster is still here, growling on top of me.
