This edition of Wogan was sixth in the BBC-only chart, with 12.85 million viewers. Had the week's Wogan episodes been ranked individually, rather than collectively, it would have placed it at 15th in the charts, ironically just above the 12.77m that had tuned in for Episode #12.3 (1986).
This edition received a mixed review in the Dundee Courier (11th January 1986): "Ronnie Corbett is certainly a polite programme host. On Wogan (B.B.C.1) he listened and smiled while Molly Sugden told us all about her evil-smelling loo: a Wogan-style interruption might have been very welcome. Sue Lawley pepped the pace up a little, bright in manner and wit, but it was really Bruce Forsyth who raised the laughs and led the conversation exactly where he wanted it to go."
Mollie Sugden would later reveal that she didn't like to do chat shows, and appeared only as a personal favour to stand-in host Ronnie Corbett. The Reading Evening Post (25th February 1986) published an interview with her that contained the quote: "I did appear with Ronnie Corbett when he was filling in for Wogan because he's a friend. But I don't like doing them, normally because I can't think of anything to say. My life is actually pretty boring. When I've finished work, I go home to my husband. Who's interested in hearing about that?"
"Ocean Blue" wasn't a successful single for ABC, stalling just outside the UK Top 50 at 51st place.
