A lot of potential, hampered by novice acting and a rushed ending

6/10 Promising. Worth the view for fans of BL. Note: The series also explores transgender issues and issues of parental abandonment.

This is one of the first Filipino BL series of 2020. The series starts out with some time shifting so you need to pay more attention to that aspect or you will be lost. The premise is that Christian, a young good looking man, is in the process pledging himself to enter the Catholic ministry (a Sacristan). He has been tasked with shepherding college tri-athlete stud Zach who has fallen behind in his studies at a tiny Catholic university. Chemistry quickly develops between the two. Conflict develops when fellow sacristan, and childhood friend Wolf realizes Christian is falling for Zach and is falling away from the path to the ministry that they had decided to follow together. Bad choices almost destroy the three friends.

***SPOILERS*** The names are obvious to their respective roles. Christian is the good guy. Wolf is the wolf in sheep's clothing. Zach is called "Sheep" by Christian, and eventually follows his shepherd into the ministry becoming a fellow sacristan. However, I did not find this ending satisfactory at all. Basically it leaves three confirmed homosexuals with attraction for each other in the same church. Zach never convincingly explains his commitment to god or the priesthood. Nor is any explanation given how any of the three expect to maintain their respective vows of celibacy. I also find the ending careless as it implies giving yourself to god will somehow magically cure you from being gay. This is how altar boys get eventually get molested. Is that season 2? ***END SPOILERS AND RANTS***

This series has a wonderful soundtrack provided by VIVA records. I can't get DELIKADO and the slow version of TALA out of my head! I wish they had used DELIKADO as the theme song all the way to the end of the series. However most other production qualities are severely lacking as with any other micro budget project. Sound and lighting quality being the worst offenders in many scenes.

The main actors are clearly just starting their acting careers. However, I felt their honest emotions mostly made up for their lack of acting experience and I found both were convincing in their roles. Conversely, I am not a fan of the stereotypical gay side characters thrown in for comic relief. However, I understand it is par for the course in most BL series. Finally, props for well integrated '10 Days' product placement.

I wish nothing but the best for all those involved on their future projects.
