Wasted potential

Warning: Spoilers
It had so much potential in the beginning but halfway through in an attempt to bring the movie to it's climax, it flopped and just didn't rise to the occasion. I really wanted to love this movie. The spark was lacking between the couples and the friendship as a whole. One particular character I felt had no purpose in the story was Cardi- what was she meant to have contributed to the story with her fake American accent, I do not know. Lerato and being so angry at Mxolisi was a bit over the top in my opinion. And the revelation and ending regarding Funi and Ants was just too mild- a situation like that would not have been resolved in one night with everyone going home as friends no matter how long ago it was and marriage counselling attended. And what is up with South African movies ending with i-step?

A hot mess

This film is messy in every way The pacing was horrible, the camera was shakey and although that may have been a technical choice it did not help or add anything to the story. The acting wasn't bad but the chemistry between these so called friends was questionable . The drama was so manufactured and the film took too many short cuts to get to the climax which was also horrible. Although it was a dramedy, it couldn't balance those elements together and scenes would go from dramatic to funny in just a second and I did not know what to take seriously and what not to. Even the comedy itself was horrible and the "proof of stake" joke was embarrassing. The film did not utilize its setting. A lot can be dope in a film set in one location with examples like the hatefull eight, one night in Miami and Mr Robot s4 ep7 to say the least but then this film just used it as a way to lower the budget

Great!

Absolutely enjoyed the movie. Takes you through the plot quite nicely without losing context. The comedy was also a great addition, infused with real South African issues like crime, race relations, ethnic diversity.

Well balanced South African story.
