Although all part of the same series, the title of the programme was updated with each new season to reflect the change (and to possibly assure viewers it wasn't a repeat): season two was retitled "Six More English Towns", while the third season went under the name "Another Six English Towns".
The first two seasons had a subtitle: the first was sub-headed "A Pattern of Building", while the second had the additional title "A Pattern of English Building".
Further seasons were intended, according to The Radio Times (9th May 1985): "A fourth was being planned when Alec Clifton-Taylor died last month. He said that making TV programmes gave him enormous pleasure. It could scarcely equal the pleasure that he gave to his public."
