The Night Stalker: Part 2
Prismark1028 September 2021
This was much better than the first episode which was more about the set up.

The second episode very much does away with the tension between DS Simon Morgan and DCI Sutton.

Morgan is still nominally in charge with Sutton taking over day to day activities.

Sutton also realises the scale of the resources required. Minstead man was a prolific burglar and seems to make no mistakes. An alternative strategy is needed.

It was an episode of a near miss, the police were just a few seconds late in arriving at an ATM location.

Once again the testimony from a victim is harrowing.

I cannot recall seeing actual footage of Sutton but I feel Martin Clunes has really studied the mannerisms of the real life person.

Operation Minstead lite begins.

Det Supt Simon Morgan has to step aside, leaving Sutton in charge of that case, despite lots of resistance he changes things.

I was expecting it to slow down somewhat, but it doesn't, it's similar to the first episode in that it's still setting the scene, still giving us information and build up, we still only get to see a shadow.

The content is harrowing once again, you will hear some terrible content, it's one sadist that needed to be put away a lot sooner.

The acting again is terrific, Clunes naturally, but Gravelle and Croucher I really enjoyed here.

Hooked on it, 9/10.

I do enjoy this series very much! The plots appear to be taken from the files of the actual, real life DCI Colin Sutton who also is a consultant for the series. This gives the the series a true feel. This specific series is a tough one involving elderly women and that's always scary as you get older or have elderly friends who live alone. The cast is strong and I like Martin Clunes and Claudie Blakely acting together; their chemistry is solid and I like how his (husband) character listens to her (wife) expertise and advice. I hope AcornTV does a Season 3 and does it soon. This series ran in 2021. Anyone know?
