The first image of the film that came to director Eric Bair was a paint drop sliding out from underneath an eyelid. This image never made it to the final cut of the film due to some technical issues and time constraints in post production. Instead the image was implied with editing as the first few visuals of the film.
It rained every day the cast and crew filmed outside and was sunny and clear everyday they filmed inside.
The film was shot at various locations throughout northern California including: Joseph D Grant County Park, Vallco Mall, Archbishop Mitty High School Bus Stop and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.
