Excellent Episode

Warning: Spoilers
The guest cast is Jordan Peele, Issa Rae and Gayle King. When it is Gayle King of CBS this morning is one of three people on this one. I rate it as another excellent episode of this series and this show should be considered as essential viewing for everyone. It is fast becoming a favorite of mine. (I highly recommend watching the next episode where Norah O'Donnell who worked with Gayle on CBS This Morning for several years finds out her history. The difference between Norah and Gayle's reactions is an educational experience).

Gayle King got a lot of major surprises about her root here. So did the other 2 people this episode featured. What is great though is exactly what this title suggests- Breaking Silences. In the case of all of the people featured on this episode, their families were silent to them about their backgrounds. The reasons for that vary with each person. There is an important common denominator.

This episode more than any other proves how ignorant people protesting their past are. All three of these folks find out why the silences happened and get surprised by the results. Gayle King is very surprised about 33% of her background. The comments she makes are controversial.

That is the hallmark of this program episode. You will find this series is nor only brave about confronting it, but they do not hold back any punches in airing the comments about it. That is what makes this episode so good.

I highly praise what is accomplished here and everyone should watch this and learn more about all of our histories. While it always has a focus of 2 people or more, this program teaches more about human families and relations then any other program I have seen. Gayle King's reaction alone is worth watching this one. Her reaction also reveals to anyone seeing this what all of our common issues are, without getting it hidden by someone with an agenda.
