Snap out of it, Jerry
puzgolac19 March 2022
A good, if a bit slow, season so far, but the whole Jerry angle has already gotten old, and this is only the second episode. This is supposed to be a cop show, not a psychology documentary, so all of the numerous and slow scenes about Jerry's mental state are very boring. The season as a whole seems pretty slow so far, so Jerry's scenes really feel like filler, and it is never a good sign when a show that has only 8 episodes per season still needs filler material to pad up the runtime.

Jerry's Descent.....
wandernn1-81-6832749 August 2021
So as we move along. Tension continues between Harry and Jerry.

Love the advertisement for In And Out Burger which is an LA original. Always Fresh Ingredients!!! Animal Fries are too expensive for what they are imo.

And this ep., mainly about Jerry seeming to descend into a very dark place. It is disappointing to watch yet, I can sympathize. 7/10.

Love Bosch but they need better quality Closed Captioning
nightphyre-1682527 June 2021
In this episode at approx. 32:00 Bonswa should have been "Bonsoir" (Good Evening) it's French.

And Bon nwi (really???) Is meant to be "Bon nuit" (Good Night) in French. And finally, Orevwa (roflmao) "Au revoir" (Goodbye).

Did this Closed Captioner think they had stumbled upon some newly discovered Caribbean language? I don't think they could have butchered it any worse. You expect a show of this caliber to have top rated people to do the Closed Captioning. I've worked for one, and you need a broad base of knowledge because you never know what language, what slang, etc. That you may be running into. This individual was not experienced. I could not stop laughing. It ruined the whole end of this episode. I had to go back and re-watch part of it. That should not have been necessary.

Not French

Just to clarify the other review. In Haiti people, speak either Haitian French or Haitian Creole. As to the closed captioning, that's not done by the show itself.

J. Edgar, Loose Cannon
Hitchcoc25 June 2021
This is an incredible series. As Bosch works to solve the killing of the little girl, his partner is such a hindrance that Bosch has to keep circumventing his actions. His violence has welled up time and time again. He breaks a cardinal rule when he lets the words of a suspect drive him to a violent confrontation and possibly compromise the case. He has become a consummate lier. In other places, there are homophobic acts directed at the lieutenant by her own squad. And Irving Irving realizes he is being aced out of his position by an overzealous Mayor. One of the two or three best police series I've ever seen.

Baby Irving left alone again
snoozejonc4 November 2023
This one continues the plot and character development started in the season opener.

Bosch's arson/murder investigation is unfolding in an intriguing way that keeps me interested in this season's main criminal plot. I also like the subplot involving Chandler's white collar criminal as it makes you want to find out what information the character will reveal.

All the drama surrounding J. Edgar's behaviour is done well, but I think it needs to be resolved soon as it has the potential to become an irritation that detracts.

For me the Billets harassment plot feels a bit forced into the overarching series narrative. The way she handles the situation in the briefing room with the uniform officers feels slightly out of character. I hope it goes somewhere more interesting than just an arc involving one-dimensional bigoted characters who are neatly brought to justice.

I have lost interest in the career arc of Chief Irving. The writers acknowledge the situation regarding the premature baby (slightly) in some of the dialogue, yet the main focus of a character (portrayed having already lost a son) still appears to be career progression. Again he and Mrs Chief Irving are depicted relaxing at home, talking about work as the baby is in hospital. The writers are either deliberately making them unlikeable or have no experience of the situation they are portraying. Simple concept; baby on life support = 1 parent always with baby.

For me it's a 6.5/10, but I round upwards.

To Nightphyre: Maybe if you had looked up Haitian Creole you would not have embarrassed yourself by saying "Did this closed captioner think they had stumbled on some newly discovered Caribbean language?"
