There wasn't an ounce of fat in this film. It told its story of small-town parochialism slowly ruining a life economically and relentlessly.

Natalio is an admired teacher, deservedly so. The kids look up to him not only for his classes but for the extra-curricular activities he puts on. His private life is an enigma bu we see that he looks after a mum slipping into dementia and hangs around in gay bars.

When Juani comes to visit, rumours start to spread about their relationship. Natalio's descent into a personal hell begins at this point. Slowly the town turns against him, as mentioned in the plot outline.

As a backdrop to this, a children's production of Le Petit Prince is being rehearsed and directed by Natalio. He throws himself into coaching the kids, which makes what comes later even more poignant.

I feel privileged to have seen this film. It told a good story well.
