Why not just bop her in the head?
mjhuijbregts22 October 2022
Yumiko was allone with Pamela. Why not just stab her? Tell me how that wouldn't be the end of the entire arc. Or atleast in the way we now know it.

I'm a hardcore fan of twd, and don't come here to spam hate on twd.

But I am a bit concerned in regards to the ending of the show :/ I do think as the final arc, Pamela and lance have been a bit underwhelming. I never thought the Commonwealth seemed expansive and big enough. I get that they're on a budget but... It just doesn't seem like a threat the group couldn't handle to me.

I think they've made it hard on themselfs to pull of a good ending, having original characters missing, and multiple spinn offs to set up. Angela Kang said it would have been very different if not for those 2 factors.

I'm not sure where it's going from here, which feels weird considering it's the finale of a 12 year running show. This arc hasn't worked as wel, as it did for the comics in my opinion. But Í still have hope.

You showed us lance in 11.part 1 and 2 so much and he died soooo stupid for nothing!?And now you want to make pamela the bad guy and there are just 4 episodes left. I m realy disapointmed. Plus there are still nothing abaut rick or crm. I gues the writters think we still want to see commenwealth scenes. I miss the old twd. And i m saying if the finale rick doesnt come back,it would be a more worst finale then GOT.

Okay
fqmqgsn16 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first 3 episodes of this final part were solid and great. This episode is where I started to get that same feeling of laziness from the production crew and the sense that characters are only there to have the episode done for the sake of the contracts. And this would've been seen as just another alright episode had it not been for Lance's death.

Sebastian's death was really cool in episode 18. The height of the moment and panic and tension, and it had you thinking it was gonna end with him being saved, but he died. That raised the stakes and told us that we really don't know how things are gonna go down. With Lance's death that character had potential to be a universal Walking Dead villain and be the link to the CRM and so much but he gets killed off in such an underwhelming way.

I'm starting to think that the L in Lance and Leah stands for Lackluster and Lazy death scenes. Lance had the potential to be something great, Leah had the potential to make the reaper storyline less of a waste of time.

I can only hope that Pamela gets a satisfying death that means something after everything that's been building up. She's turning out to be a menacing character and her death needs to have a proper conclusion if not Lance.

Winter is Coming
wrka-195-29992816 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
One thing is certain, much better when in an episode we see characters like Carol, Negan and Daryl, everything is different and in this episode the most interesting thing was the plot of Carol, Daryl and Lance (a character that they shouldn't killed so soon, big mistake).

The plot of Eugene and Yumiko isn't that interesting although the actress is excellent.

About the new variant of walkers, nothing is happen about that (another missed opportunity). The writers keep telling us the stories like this was an usual season, slow plots, eternal cliffhangers (Virgil, Luke, Jules, Ocenside).

The worst thing is that they have only killed the bad guys this season, all the Reapers, Sebastian, Lance, secondary characters like Alden and Marco that I personally didn't care about, it seems that the writers are saving everything for last, the big explosion you know the shocking moment but nothing surprise you (WINTER IS COMING) and without a doubt one or two characters will die, I hope it makes sense, because if this was episode 20 and nothing really happened, not even the CRM, the end will be a bitter pill of pure disappointment, maybe in the end we will conclude that the story of the reapers was wasteful, the commonwealth arc is weak, and of course, if this is the episode and nothing really interesting happens, I doubt that the writers will give us a satisfying ending.

TWD presents us with the slowest burn yet of Season 11, and it surprisingly works.
caasijordan17 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"What's Been Lost" begins with our heroes being abducted off the street by menacing thugs working for a corrupt head of state. While it's a decent premise, it somewhat faltered in execution. Ezekiel being silently kidnapped in the same room as Carol was silly.

Eleanor Matsuura (Yumiko) was phenomenal, as was her character's development. It may be too late in the game for most of the audience to care about such a previously under-developed character, but that's not this episode's fault. The storyline in general was also very interesting to me as it gives us more insight into the politics of the Commonwealth.

The episode perfectly concluded Lance's arc. He was a gambler at heart, and playing the long game with Pamela was simply insufficient for his greedy ambitions, especially when the opportune Virginian communities came into play. All season long, we have seen him slowly descend into psychosis as he takes bolder and bolder risks, backing himself into corners and burning bridges with allies, until the only people he has left are just using him for ulterior purposes; eventually, he no longer served a purpose to them. While his death may have been anticlimactic for an audience who expected another confrontation with him and Pamela, a more robust CRM link, or the outcome of the events in Oceanside first, his death is a realistic conclusion to his character.

Overall, this episode was like a Season 2 episode, in the sense that it probably could have and should have been condensed into half or a third of an episode. But also like a Season 2 episode, the slow pacing allowed more emotional imbuement in most scenes. While it wasn't that bad, let's hope the next episode gets the ball rolling a little faster.

Best episode of season 11!
Kiwi-9077316 October 2022
Finally we see Carol and Daryl together again, being the powerful duo they always have been! I have been pretty unimpressed with season 11 as a whole. I found the Reapers storyline pointless and unnecessary, and the Commonwealth arch has been a disappointment as well. I feel like this episode set things back on track, even if it's so late in the season. There's a reason Carol and Daryl were given their own spinoff originally. Nobody has their chemistry or works better together than they do. Melissa McBride has been totally sidelined this season, which has been one of the biggest mistakes the show has made. It was so great to see Carol in this episode being the badass we all know and love. She owned the episode!

At last something happens!
samhinchliffe-7024124 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
At last something happens, it's just a bit cheap and lazy though. They should have given Lance a better ending than that. All that build up and the brilliant ending to 11B to make him into what I thought was a decent villain. To just kind of randomly kill him without him even killing a main character off.

But saying that at least they actually did something. It's felt like a soap opera but this episode was worth the watch throughout. I'm just struggling to see who is the last villain. It's a bit cheap to have Pam. We will probably get a civil war and that's it, set up for the spin offs and the inevitable finish of 30 years into the future.

More exciting
Leofwine_draca2 December 2022
This one was something of a step up in terms of screen excitement, building on the last episode's final scene and offering some good action to start things off. It then turns into another manhunt of sorts with Carol and Darryl coming back to the fore in a hunt for their missing friends. There's still rather a lot of dialogue that doesn't add much, but alongside that is a wealth of action which comes across as well-directed and heart-pounding at times. I have to say I was disappointed by the final moments which I felt were perfunctory at best, tying up loose ends in the most ordinary way. Let's hope it picks up again.

A tense episode
justdan202317 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I certainly did not expect for Lance to die. I would have thought he would survive until the finale, buuuut, I am not complaining, he deserves to die after what he has done.

Secondly, Carol and Daryl are working as an iconic duo once more and I love every scene of them together. The flashbacks were once more tearing me up.

The scene with Yumiko and Eugene had really touched me in a way too because it just gives me a sort of sense of hopeless feeling so I am happy that Yumiko stood up to Pamela at the end.

This episode is great and had scenes that makes me sit on the edge, especially the first few minutes of the episode and the Carol killing walkers scene. I can't wait for the next episode!

This episode masterfully balances the narrative between the search for lost relics of the past and the quest for redemption, making it a standout addition to the season
fernandoschiavi6 April 2024
Carol and Daryl manage to escape Pamela's goons and break Lance out, knowing that he's the only one that can lead them to their missing friends. Finding a zombified Sebastian in Lance's cell, Daryl puts him down. At the same time, Pamela blackmails Yumiko into being the prosecutor in Eugene's show trial, promising to take Yumiko to her friends if she does and threatening Tomi as well to ensure her compliance. Yumiko is torn about what to do, but Eugene, who has accepted his possible fate, encourages Yumiko to have faith in their friends. After learning of Daryl, Carol and Lance's escape, Yumiko reminds the Commonwealth of how invaluable Tomi is before making the stunning public announcement that Pamela is unjustly persecuting Eugene, and Yumiko will be acting as Eugene's defense attorney instead of his prosecutor. After evading a herd and soldiers, Lance reveals that the missing people are being used as slave labor on a project to extend the Commonwealth's reach across the continent and that there's a supply train that they can follow. Fed up with Lance's manipulations and no longer needing his help, Daryl and Carol give Lance the chance to go into exile, but he draws a gun on them, prompting Carol to kill Lance with an arrow.

Episode 20, "What's Been Lost," of "The Walking Dead" Season 11 serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring human spirit amidst relentless adversity. This episode masterfully balances the narrative between the search for lost relics of the past and the quest for redemption, making it a standout addition to the season. The episode's title not only alludes to the physical quest undertaken by key characters but also metaphorically represents the intangible aspects of humanity that have been eroded or forgotten in the wake of the apocalypse.

The central storyline revolves around a perilous journey to retrieve an item critical to the survival and morale of the community. This mission, fraught with danger and emotional turmoil, showcases the resilience and determination of the characters. Noteworthy is how "What's Been Lost" delves into the psyche of its characters, exploring themes of guilt, redemption, and the relentless pursuit of hope in a seemingly hopeless world. The episode is punctuated with moments of intense vulnerability, where characters confront their past actions and their consequences, revealing layers of complexity and humanity.

Critically, the episode shines in its ability to intertwine the personal narratives with the overarching story of survival against the undead. The scenic cinematography and atmospheric tension enhance the storytelling, creating an immersive viewing experience. However, the episode is not without its flaws. At times, the pacing stumbles, struggling to maintain momentum through some of the more introspective scenes. Despite this, "What's Been Lost" triumphs in its thematic exploration and character development, leaving a lasting impact on the audience. The episode concludes on a note of bittersweet optimism, setting a precedent for the episodes to follow and leaving viewers contemplative of the true cost of survival in the world of "The Walking Dead."

Best episode of the Season!!!
armangnkalantari16 October 2022
Everything about this episode screams masterpiece. Something we haven't seen yet in season 11. Sure, there have been some great episodes this season, but nothing close to episode 20. It is unfortunate that there are only 4 episodes left, but this episode sets the stage for what's to come, and I couldn't be more excited. This show has been one of the pinnacles of entertainment for the last 12 years. It's really sad to see this show ending. Given how far this show has come. It's almost hard to believe. My initial expectations for the third half of the season was for it to be the shows best stretch. This episode goes a long way towards meeting that expectation.

uncompelling TV
Rob-O-Cop23 October 2022
Sometimes I simply forget to keep watching this show. I get distracted by something pause it for a minute and forget to come back to it, that's how uncompelling the story is. It's not "edge of the seat what's going to happen next" stuff, it's background wallpaper couldn't care less loops and whistles.

Nothing is of any consequence and they seem to be jumping through the same hoops they've done 100 times before, and really if there's nothing new in this show, why are they thinking we'll keep watching it?

Is it because we've become the zombies, brain dead returning to the scenes of our former lives, expecting to get fed but we're not getting any brains.

This episode had the usual line up of unbelievable set ups, and a large dose of incongruous plot concoctions. Yumiko's going to lead a courtroom drama now? Really?

There was one decent scene with Daryl, Carol, and Lance where they discussed his options coldly. But everything else added nothing to a the compelling story we so desperately need to get us to the end of this series.

4 more episodes and it's over. Definitely a whimper rather than a bang, it won't be the huge disappointment of game of throne which at least had the decency to be good up till the last season and I think we all know they've long since run out of ideas on this show so it's not really a surprise. But how bad is it going to be? Will they even make it to a cohesive finish line at all?

My expectations are very very low.

The Beginning of the End
tristan_1916 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What's Been Lost is pretty much the catalyst for the end of the show. Our heroes have been taken by the Commonwealth. Eugene is still waiting for a trial, and Yumiko is in the crosshairs. She pulls a little clever twist on us and goes against Pamela's commands.

Daryl and Carol start to retaliate. They seek Lance's help and move out, looking for their friends. The troopers are cornering our folks and Pamela is scariest than ever. Hornsby's life comes to an end after revealing information about what comes after.

Overall, WBL is a top 5 episode in this season. It keeps the stakes high and our characters engaged in the process. The next episode looks absolutely insane. I'm scared for Yumiko and Ezekiel now.

Plus, the troopers injecting stuff in people's necks. What is that about ? Is it a way to alter the chemical process in the brains, therefore creating the Variants ? If so, this would be a fantastic twist. Or it might just be a way to knock them out, who knows.

hopefully tops the last 3 episodes
kvckhw16 October 2022
My predictions:

  • lance will be killed but will leave the fact that the CRM is linked with him

  • Pamela's screaming in the trailer i'm hoping is in this episode

  • Eugene could die? But probs not

  • either a semi or main character death

  • Variants will be mentioned to other members of our gang

  • there will be a shootout at the court or at least something jaw dropping

just hoping this episode tops the last 3, i've enjoyed them all including episode 18 the most.

Just a few things we need:

  • recognition of the 50,000 commonwealth members, even just a CGI over head of the ground and everyone roaming as to me the size is intriguing and i want them to own that statement by proof

  • more variant walker recognition, i'm hoping this isn't all we get, if it is i'd be fairly disappointed as many would

  • lastly more character inclusion, i get they want to save money on not having all or most characters in the episodes but as this is the ending of the walking dead for good i think we deserve for it to feel more included with everyone, episode 19 had about 6 or 7 main/side characters when there is many more to be included.

"What's Been Lost" is helmed by a director who cares, the episode offers suspension and action
Holt34424 October 2022
The premise of episode 11.20 titled "What's Been Lost": Daryl and Carol search for their disappeared friends. Erik Mountain penned the script for 11.20 and I think it wasn't the same quality as the previous episodes but still good, better than the previous episode I have to say. The dialogue was great though. Overseen by Angela Kang, the writing for this episode is mostly consistent of the previous episodes in Part 1 and 2 if not better. The episode uses the big budget wisely, making it brilliant both technically and the acting and so on, the camera work are brilliant and visually a great episode, an overall impressive production. There's so many shots in this episode that are brilliantly shot, such a sunning looking episode. That moon shot alone, wow.

Aisha Tyler directed "What's Been Lost" and she actually did a terrific job, it's her first episode for this show but she directed an episode of Fear TWD and two episodes of TWD: World Beyond, she also guest starred in Fear's seventh season and was nominated for her guest performance as Mickey for the Saturn Awards. Tyler's vision and direction were truly one of the episode's highlights, she's also a big fan of the show which helps. The episode contains yet again superb drama with plenty of suspension and tension to keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat. There are plenty of great scenes in this episode and there's not one single bad performance throughout the entire episode. Scenes that are beautifully shot, scenes that are acted with such brilliance, and every other department and people working on the episode, terrific work. The attention to detail and all the shots in the nature, they nailed it on the camera side of things. The cinematography is once again breathtaking and incredible, just right for the show, the way it was shot and so on, simply brilliant. The sets were detailed and perfect, and so are the art and production design. I also found the effects to be fantastic in this episode, practical effects always makes it so more real, and The Walking Dead is known for their practical effects and they didn't let us down for this episode. Superb sound design and a musical score both gripping and dramatic. It's one of many things on the technical side of things that the show succeeds perfectly with.

The Commonwealth arc is a big part of this episode so if you're not a fan of that, there might not be a lot to your liking, but it's a great The Walking Dead episode. The plot moves forward with action and drama, and with the episode focusing on less characters we get a narrative focused more on what is important to the Commonwealth arc which is appreciated. It means more screen time for the actors to show their acting skills, my favorite performances being: Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier, Laila Robins as Pamela Milton and Josh Hamilton as Lance Hornsby. Josh Hamilton is truly the MVP in this episode, the range on his acting is impressive. I also want to say it's nice to see that Eleanor Matsuura gets more screen time as Yumiko, she's great in the role.

This episode kept the story going much more than the previous episode, but it's just not the direction I want the show to go but there's nothing we can do about it except for enjoying what we're getting. I think Angela Kang will tie things up nicely, but the already announced sequel spin-offs removes the unpredictability that the show is known for. I never find myself on the edge of my seat anymore, there's tension and suspension sure but no real risk. That goes hand in hand with my previous review for "Variant" how there are also too many characters in the main cast, most don't have anything interesting to do and they then fail the characters, most of them. But honestly the build up we have gotten is leading to something memorable, you see that with this episode, TWD have always been a slow burn and this time Angela Kang have succeeded with it, which I didn't think would happen with this story arc. I love how they have made Commonwealth to a police state, going all in into fascism. Another criticism similar to Fear's seventh season, they skip important events, like the events happening between the end of the previous and this episode could easily been done with an amazing montage for an example. But let's tie up this review, episode 11.20 is actually quite great and has much needed zombie action and suspension. I also think the next episode will be back to normal, as we'll be back with Aaron and his group in Alexandria but also see what happened with all the characters who Pamela "disappeared". Whilst action packed, this was truly an episode that is building up to something memorable.

An amazing and tightly-written episode, just with questionable effects on the remainder of the season.
frankiesilver-9183624 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love how tense this episode is. The shocking opening of Ezekiel getting kidnapped is a great jump-start of an opening. There's constant stress over the safety of those who avoided capture, and it makes you question how they could possibly save everyone. The premise allows for a much smaller cast and a resulting tighter plot for the episode, with the A and B plots being directly related this time around.

While admittedly, some of the cast is severely lacking screen time, I found the decision to only focus on Daryl, Carol, Yumiko, and the villains to be a good one.

It does feel a bit out of place how much we get of Yumiko here despite her being a supporting character, but I really love her story. It also makes sense that she is so important considering she has taken Michonne's comic storyline. I never cared too much about her before, but the Commonwealth arc has made me really like her. I wish some of the other supporting characters got as much love, but there is only so much screen time left to work with.

As you'd expect with TWD, they really don't hold back with the brutality in 11C. Daryl murdering the assassins was sick, and finding Lance in his cell covered in the blood and guts of his own man whom he fed to Walker Sebastian was a spine-tingling scene. The visuals of the gore when Sebastian is put down are on another level!

The longer 11C goes on, the more I fall in love with the antagonists. Lance, especially in the aforementioned jail scene, is so disturbingly ripped of his sanity. His acting is incredibly remarkable. You can tell what he is feeling from his eyes alone.

Meanwhile, Pamela's eerie and extremely confident threats are frightening. Her incredible amount of leverage on our group is really stressful. She was one step ahead of Yumiko the entire time, which made it really satisfying when she is finally outsmarted at the end. Very cleverly written speech scene!

Lastly, Carol killing Lance was insane. It's great to see her off a main villain before the end of the show. I found it very dumb of Lance to try and shoot Daryl and her, but it's not necessarily out of character for him to make that rash a decision in such a scenario. Either way, it's a bit sad to see such a slimy, smart villain be killed so foolishly.

We are now in an unexpected position where Pamela is our only villain left. I'm really starting to question if we will get some major deaths before the show ends. Lance went down as one of the best villains anyway, but he definitely should've killed someone off before we lost him.

So while this was another solid episode that was easy to get fully invested in, I'm once again scratching my head on how they successfully move forward from here.

What a phenomenal episode. This is probably my favourite this season!!!!. Alot of action throughout. Although some parts of this episode are slow, it is never boring. Lance was such an amazing villain in this season and I am sad to see him die. Daryl and Carol teaming up was amazing just as always. I am very happy that Carol is the one to kill Lance and thought it was a very satisfying Carol moment and a satisfying death for Lance. Yumiko and Pamela were also Great this episode. Yumiko is easily becoming one of my favourite characters of this final season. Although I am sad for this show to end I am very excited to see the last 4 amazing episodes.

Truly depressing
cmarlborough24 October 2022
I hate watching the characters I love get such a badly written ending. No idea what other viewers are watching but it's not what I just saw. Terrible, just give up on the commonwealth altogether asap and give us a good end. The conversation between Carole and Ezekiel is just strange, the trial of Eugene is weird and going nowhere, the plot is thin, badly hung together and even Carole and Daryl can't save it. I'm hating this season, and it's the last one so I can't even hope that they realise their mistake and pull it back! I can't even say anything nice to fill up the rest of the space. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Make it stop. Please.

The Train
claudio_carvalho24 January 2024
Carol is talking to Ezekiel at the bakery where she works, when he vanishes. Then she is attacked by two men, but she succeeds to escape. She seeks out Daryl and finds him fighting a man. Then they realize that everybody from their group has been kidnapped and are missing, even Dog. Carol believes that Hornsby may know here their friends are. Meanwhile, Pamela threatens Yumiko, using her brother Tomi, to force her to prosecute Eugene. Daryl and Carol subdue the soldiers in the jail and release Hornsby, who agrees to show where their friends are. They leave Commonwealth and after many problems along their journey, Carol and Darul learn from Hornsby that there is a train working to connect communities and their friends probably are there.

"What's Been Lost" is another great episode of "The Walking Dead". Yumiko does not disappoint and protects Eugene, against the will of Pamela. The fate of the scum Hornsby was expected to happen, in one of the best moments of the show. The action of the journey of Carol and Hornsby is entertaining. The twist with the train in the end of the episode is a big surprise. A question: how a man like Mercer, who is responsible for the soldiers of Commonwealth, was not aware of this train and the movement of his troopers? My vote is eight.

I hate Daryl and Carol for what they did to my favorite character

Warning: Spoilers
I hate Daryl and Carol for what they did. Lance Hornsby was my favorite character. After all the good things that he did for so many people he should have not been killed off.

Daryl and Carol are not honorable people. They are killers and can't be trusted. They have no good qualities.

Goodbye Lance Hornsby. You were actually a pretty good guy.

Enough with the Commonwealth already!
timcain8124 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Only a few episodes to go. We do not care about the Commonwealth and the boring, bland, irritating side characters.

I was hoping they were going to set up an epic finish to conclude what was an awesome show but sadly it looks like that's not going to be.

Seriously where is Rick?! Michonne? The garbage lady? We know they are coming back so where is the build up? The tension? The explanations? The tying of loose ends? Instead we're punished with soap operas like the adventures of Yumiko and her weird sounding Dr brother. We're bored to death with talk of an impending court room drama, the boring Governess with her political drama and bratty son.

I yearn for the early days of this show with characters like Rick, Shane, Glen, Dale, Daryl, Herschel, Carol, Maggie and Negan and the struggles they all went through and how tense it all was.

Watching this show for me now is like watching your favourite pet die a slow death hoping that someone will come alone and put it out of its misery to spare me from seeing any further suffering.

What's Been Lost
bobcobb3018 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There was a time when Daryl and Carol was a relationship people wanted to see, when they felt like two of the biggest characters on TV and there were countless articles written about them. Now I don't even know what to make of them, but their scenes are just boring. They are phoning in their performances and bringing nothing to the table other than collecting those huge paychecks.

It was easy to get through this episode, but the show is just not what it once was at all. I am sick of the Commonwealth and cannot believe that this is the setting where it is all going to end for the long-running franchise.

Slow and Boring Filler Episode, Not Much Happens

Warning: Spoilers
Love the flashbacks when the episode starts. I like that Lance is part of the episode. Im really interested to see how exactly they plan to get Eugene out of jail and back to safety. Our characters disappear and get kidnapped. I wonder what plan Ms Milton has in mind for them. It seems like Ms Milton wanted to keep zombie-Sebastian as a pet, that plan failed haha. Im kind of sad that Negan is nowhere in this episode. Also what about Aaron, Jerry and Lydia? Lance's death wasn't satisfying at all. They get him out of jail just to kill him later, I don't know I expected something better. A very slow episode overall, not much happens, full of dull conversations and 100% filler. Don't forget the boring announcement by Yumiko. One of the worst episodes of season 11. My rating is 5/10.
