Trivia
Robin Hood (guests: John Carradine, Penny Edwards, Billy Gilbert, Sterling Holloway)
The Red Skelton Hour
Per the title, Robin Hood is a mythical figure in English folklore who was famous for robbing from the rich and giving to the poor and fighting the corruption of King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
In "Robin Hood", an elaborately filmed musical spoof of the Robin Hood legend, Red plays Robin, who is obliged to rescue Maid Marian. With Kim Dibbs as Sheriff, Penny Edwards as Maid Marian, Sterling Holloway as Will Scarlet, John Carradine as Little John, Billy Gilbert as Friar Tuck. First, however, Robin must spring his Merry Men from the stocks, a job that may take brains (a rare commodity in this branch of Sherwood Forest!). Musical highlights: "The Ranger Song," "Stout-Hearted Men," "The Whiffenpoof Song," and "March of the Musketeers."
