Majority of the film was shot in Magnolia, TX, two miles from the entrance of The Texas Renaissance Festival.
The festival claims to be "The nation's largest Renaissance theme park."
Events in the movie were recreated from a Cuban folklore story.
Due to safety precautions regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, the original location for the Gas Station scene fell through, after the crew had already set-up. With help from locals, and the patience of everyone on set, the gas station scene was shot at The Kenney Store in Kenney, TX.
Due to safety precautions regarding the CoViD-19 outbreak. In order to not have too many people on site each day, some of the crew had to double as extras most of the time. In fact, one of the scenes toward the climax contains, all P.A.'s, Special Effects artist, 2nd assistant camera, Executive Producer, and the Producer playing extras.
Even though it has its fair share of night scenes, majority of the film took place during the day. The Texas heat would rise up to 100+ degrees in the afternoons til sundown. The woods helped keep the crew shaded.
