Most of the cast were descendants of the characters in the story and the film was created for a family reunion as well as its public premiere in Brisbane, Australia.
The main character, William Blakeley, played by Adam Strathearn, and cinematographer Lana Strathearn, also playing Sarah, Williams wife, are the children of the writer/director Sonja Strathearn. Adam and Lana were children when their family left Australia where they were born, and emigrated to the USA. It was difficult for Adam Strathearn to have a convincing English /Australian accent as he had lived in the USA since he was 6 years old. Margaret Hardman's voice over was performed by Rachel Beach from Manchester because the actress, Renee Whaikawa had an Australian accent. Both Adam Strathearn and Renee Whaikawa are great great great grandchildren of the character Margaret Blakeley Hardman.
