James Murray (playing Chief Superintendent John Houseman) and Sarah Parish (playing Mariel Flynn) are married in real life.
Was scheduled to air in the UK on Sunday 14 March, but was delayed to avoid a scheduling clash between the start of ITV's Grace (2021) and series 6 of the BBC's Line of Duty (2012). It was finally shown on 3 July 2022 as if it were part of the Series 3 block of episodes. For this UK showing, all the scenes with Chief Supt John Houseman (James Murray) were reshot with Chief Supt Mary Ormond (Claire Skinner) in his place, to avoid continuity errors, because it was announced in Belvedere (2022) that Houseman had been replaced by Ormond. The character of Malik was also added to scenes for continuity as he hadn't appeared in the original screening.
Charlie Chambers is added to the castlist and was not in the original recording of the show playing DC Samuel Goldie.
In the original recording Leah Balmforth, Flora London and Romani Wright were cast as Girl 1, Girl 2 and Girl 3. In the rerecording they are cast as Boleyn Beauty 1, Boleyn Beauty 2 and Boleyn Beauty 3 respectively.
The German DVD release and the (UK) ITV online copy of the episode both quote the episode's title as "The War of The Rose" (as opposed to The War of Rose") although the latter title is shown during the opening title sequence, as for the broadcast version.
