- On the eve of the christening of her sister's baby, Belle is pressurized by a tabloid journalist into exposing a married Member of Parliament, who is one of her clients. She also meets Alex, a young doctor, unaware of her calling and anxious to date her, and Bambi, who has read her blog and wants Belle to groom her as a call-girl.—don @ minifie-1
- Our favorite hooker wakes up at the end of the day. "Aren't we all whoring ourselves for the man?" She justifies. "Of course not, I'm literally whoring myself -- it's different." All dolled up, she turns to the camera: "Welcome back, I missed you." Naughty little minx.
Belle va-va-vooms into a hotel bar, wondering who her date Alex is. Anything could happen. She finds a young, good-looking man sitting at the bar. He's Alex. He leaves an envelope on the bar for her to pick up subtly, so it'll feel like a real date, she explains. She invites herself up to his room and excuses herself to the bathroom. She never counts the cash in front of the client. Good thing, too, since she's not holding cash, she's holding his passport. Her phone rings. It's Alex. The one she's supposed to be with. The other Alex. She rushes out of the wrong Alex's room-- charming, sweet, age-appropriate Alex. Leaving him there with two drinks in his hands. Hotel corridor, as a guy comes down the hall, Belle knocks on the apartment door. She finds the right Alex, apologizes for being late and is coldly handed the cash and the French maid's outfit he wants her to wear. The old rumpled guy doesn't have much time, he says, as he unromantically removes his trousers.
Belle leaves, walking down the stairs. She sees the wrong Alex back at the bar and sighs as she walks away.
A girl apologizes to Belle profusely for being late, she's still lost. Belle tells her if she wants to be an escort she'll have to learn punctuality.
Belle's door buzzes. It's a long-haired, intensely blue-eyed man with a copy of the day's paper saying she will want to hear what he has to say. She looks at the politician's picture. It's Alex, the second one. She says she has no idea who it is. He offers her $15,000 for her story. She denies being a call girl. She ushers him out.
Belle/Hannah arrives, late, for her sister's kid's christening. The hooker/godmother strolls into the church. Belle thinks about her dirty evening as she agrees to reject the devil and evil and repent of her sins.
Flash back more to evening, as the baby is blessed with holy water, Belle thinks of her water sport from the evening before. The highly-regarded, respectably married, moralistic politician wanted to be peed on.
Back at the party after the christening, her friend Ben shows up as Belle feels out of place among the family. She doesn't have much to talk about at these sorts of things. Can't really talk about relationships or work. She imagines talking to her family about her day job, her dad asking if there's much money in it, her sister asking if she kisses on the mouth. (Of course, that's just a myth.)
Belle chats with Ben at the bar. He's still with Vanessa, but they moved out of London after he called off the wedding.
Back at the christening party, everyone is supposed to place a rose petal in the baby's crib to represent their hopes and dreams for the kid. Hannah knocks the entire chalice on the floor, as Ben notes, shattering all the poor infant's hopes and dreams.
In the cab back to the city, Belle goes through her purse and realizes she still has the real Alex's passport and papers. He was in town for a job interview.
She tries to stuff it under his hotel door and he opens it as she's down on her hands and knees. He's happy to see her, even if he thinks she's a bit nuts. He insists she go out with him and she gives him her number, writing Hannah. He thought her name was Belle. Oops. Uh, awkward exit.
Belle meets with the young woman who called earlier about wanting to get into the business. She tells her about the downsides: no real relationships, odd hours and you lie to people constantly. No problem for the 'porn-seasoned' newcomer. Been there, done that. The girl wants to be called Bambi, because her mother was shot. No, she's kidding.
The reporter shows up as they're talking, with photos of Hannah at the christening yesterday. He wants her side of the story to expose the politician as a hypocrite. Belle is not pleased. Meanwhile Belle's phone rings in her purse and Bambi answers it secretly, deciding to announce she's taking Belle's clients while she's away.
The reporter tells her the story's coming out tomorrow regardless.
At home overnight, Belle watches news footage of Alex and then the real one calls. He got the job he was angling for. He's going to move to London. He's generally charming and funny and asks her out. Dreading the next edition, she tells him to call her tomorrow if he still wants to.
Belle wakes up the next day and sees the reporter's card. The paper arrives at her sister's front door. Belle, her hair disheveled, brings hers inside. Her sister's husband answers the ring at the door and shouts for her to come look at this, "Your sister!" Barefoot, Belle sits down to read the story. We see what the husband was talking about: Hannah got her sister flowers. Belle reads. A prostitute reveals all about her tryst with Alex. There's a photo. It's not Belle.
Her phone rings. It's the Real Alex, calling for Hannah. Meanwhile the new hooker wobbles into the meeting she stole from Belle.
