Earlier this year, Fargo TV series creator Noah Hawley went into production on the Alien TV series he has been developing for “FX on Hulu”… but filming didn’t last long before production had to shut down due to the Screen Actors Guild strike. When the strike ended earlier this month, Hawley revealed they were planning to resume production on the Alien TV series next year, aiming for a 2025 premiere. Now he has reiterated those plans while speaking to Deadline.
Bangkok, Thailand is the base of operations for the Alien TV series, and Hawley ha said he’s expecting to head back there in January so filming can resume in February. He told Deadline, “We’re getting back into production as quickly as possible. We’re shooting in Bangkok, a half a world away; shooting again in the new year. I got some footage. Season two of family television series Alien TV – a Canadian-Australian co-production between eOne and Pop Family Entertainment – will premiere on Netflix globally next month.
Targeted at kids aged 6-11 years, Alien TV follows the slapstick misadventures of an extra-terrestrial television news crew as they try to understand the wild, baffling, and sometimes weird life on a newly discovered planet called Earth.
The series combines real-world imagery with high-end CGI animation across 26 half-hour episodes.
The Nine Network commissioned the series in Australia, where it was produced with financial support from Create Nsw. Netflix also bought the global rights to the first season.
Oliver Dumont, eOne’s family brands president, said the company was thrilled Alien TV had resonated with kids and parents alike.
“We now have the opportunity to continue to share these hilarious and universal stories with audiences and families everywhere,” he said.

Australia’s leading children’s TV producers today called on the Federal Government to review its planned media reforms, warning that abolishing the free-to-air broadcasters’ children content quotas will result in thousands of job losses.
The coalition is seeking an urgent meeting with the government to work on changing policies to sustain children’s production and enable producers to continue to access the Producer Offset.
“Unless these amendments are urgently implemented we fear many thousands of jobs will be lost and highly successful and profitable production companies will be forced to close,” the group said.
“The government’s decision to effectively shut down the production of local children’s content will have a detrimental impact on the Australian community and especially its children.”
By abolishing the quotas for children’s content and with no requirements on the streamers or other adjustments, the government has left the sector stranded, it says.

Peter Greste.
The arrest and conviction on spying charges and eventual acquittal of Australian-born foreign correspondent Peter Greste in Cairo in 2013 will be adapted into a feature film by Peter Duncan.
Pop Family Entertainment’s Carmel Travers will produce The First Casualty, based on Greste’s book published in 2017.
Now a professor at the University of Queensland, Greste spent more than 400 days in jail before being released after international condemnation and quickly became a champion of press freedom.
“It has long been our intention to develop projects across the breadth of film and television production and we are very pleased to bring The First Casualty to the screen,” said Travers, who launched her production company in 2017.
“It is a joy and privilege to be working with two great storytellers – Peter Greste, whose passion for truth-telling knows no bounds, and Peter Duncan, who writes with flair, imagination and wit.”

There’s plenty going up on the various streaming services for users to enjoy this weekend. In particular, those who subscribe to Netflix and Disney Plus have a whole heap of new titles to dig into over the next few days. Some of the highlights include the hotly awaited return of a hit show, a few new movies and a smash hit release from 2017.
Let’s start with Friday. Netflix is serving up probably the biggest addition of the weekend with Lucifer season 5A, the first eight episodes that make up the penultimate run of the DC supernatural/crime drama starring Tom Ellis as the Devil. The trailer teased that Ellis will get to double up this year as Lucifer’s twin brother Michael comes to Los Angeles to stir up trouble and so far, at least, reactions to the new run are pretty strong.
