A thoughtful final episode, maybe not the content you'd expect.

So, what's in store for Peter in the final episode, does he have one last throw of the dice, or will his last come back to haunt him?

Very good once again, I love the implications here that there is corruption in politics. For years people seemed to put them up on a pedestal, as of 2020, we know full well that they are just ordinary people, who lie, obfuscate, say one thing, and very often mean another, Roadkill captured that beautifully.

I had predicted in the previous episode that we were going to have carnage here, make your own minds up if this ended the way you wished it had. Overall, what I watched was hard to fault, I do wonder if we're going to get a second series, it seemed to be implied with the wife's final act. Personally I wish they would have finished it here and now.

The acting has been hard to fault. What was the overall message of Roadkill, was it to prove that Politicians are above the Law itself, that it's human nature to step on someone to get what you want, or is it a case of if you can't beat them, join them.

Very well done. 8/10.

A fine episode!

Warning: Spoilers
"Roadkill" is a show, which has a very intriguing idea for me, but the story itself has been the downside. The first episode set up intrigue very well, the second one was very fast-paced and interesting, but the third episode I found very disappointing. It was just very melodramatic and in need of thrills. The fourth episode is sadly not a great episode either. There are some very good aspects here, but I found the end of this miniseries to be quite disappointing.

Let's start with the good aspects, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual. The episode looks very good and the music creates an old-fashioned atmosphere. The acting is pretty good all around. Helen MCcrory and especially Hugh Laurie are wonderful, but Saskia Reeves, Pip Torrens and Pippa-Bennett-Warner do very well too.

. The story has intrigue, it's mostly fast-paced and the characters are written well enough to keep one watching.

But...

. There should have been a lot more twists in the story here. At the end of the day "Roadkill" feels a very straight-forward narrative. Some other shows (like "House of Cards") have done political thrillers in much better way.

. The outcome of the miniseries felt very disappointing as well. In fact, nothing was resolved. Who killed Charmian is unknown, how Lawrence gets his dirty money from his offshore account and what happens next to the Lawrence family- all is left in the air. Is there a second season? The first season did not do a very good job at telling a coherent story. The point of the story in this season seemed to be that politicians can lie to anyone with no consequences whatsover, which, though very similar to the ending of Beau Willimons "The Parisian Woman", left me in the cold. Why would a writer build up such an interesting narrative for that ending is a big puzzle here.

Overall, I expected much more.

6/10 HK.

Warning: Spoilers
Given David Hare's reputation I had high hopes for the finale and it left me disappointed.

It lacked thrills and coherence. I thought this was supposed to be a conspiracy thriller.

In the real world Boris Johnson can constantly lie to Parliament, the public and the Queen. The Tories win by a General Election by a large margin.

Here Dawn Ellison the PM is on the ropes because of some comments that indicates she is two faced. Big deal.

Both Ellison and Laurence have associates who leak information in order to jockey for position.

The newspaper that lost the libel case has information to exonerate themselves but the editor is pressured to drop it by the proprietor.

By the end Laurence meets his long lost daughter and becomes Prime Minister despite the dirt he has accumulated.

Since the 2015 General Election. The Tories have had two Prime Ministers who have resigned and it leads to a bitter leadership election. Here it looked like Laurence had a walk in the park.

It just did not work for me.
