- The hardest journey is within
- An epic journey undertaken by three diverse, fearless and independent women, who took on the challenge of a lifetime and came out the other side as one. The quest: to challenge prejudices and break down stereotypes and to deliver a message to the world that we are "better together" regardless of culture, gender or identity differences.—Lynn Coleman
- Three intrepid women embark on an epic journey across one of the most beautiful and hostile regions on Earth. The Empty Quarter. Follow them as they, two Omani women and an English adventuress, trudge through the desert wastes to escape their demons within........only to come face to face with them in the midst of the golden seas of Oman.
The challenge and accomplishment of walking the length of this inhospitable desert was enough of a reason on it's own for our intrepid explorers. However, there were further significant motivations for their journey.
The extreme nature of the desert was the perfect platform for stripping away societal influences which enabled the women to explore, understand and unearth the misinterpretations and conflicts between the East and West - often so poorly portrayed in the press.
The days were long and hot, temperatures regularly reached 40 degrees celsius, with heat exhaustion and dehydration an ever-present threat. The arduous terrain tested the physical limits of the women's bodies. From the softest sands and steepest gradients to the hundreds of kilometres of gravel flats of the featureless Umm as Sammim, or Mother of Poison. This tested their navigational prowess, sanity and ability to overcome adversity on a daily basis.
The journey includes encounters with local Bedouin tribes where they learned about the lives and activities of the Bedouin women and experienced the unrivalled hospitality of these nomadic families.
Video diaries crucially documented individual experiences, revealing the true meaning of performance, teamwork and friendship in one of the most hostile environments in the world.
