Charlie mentions Bob Dylan's second album "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" had four tracks removed because they were considered too controversial. A few original pressings were accidentally released in the new sleeve that did not list them. These copies are very rare and have been sold for as much as $35,000. The deleted tracks were "Talkin' John Birch Blues", "Rocks and Gravel", "Let Me Die in My Footsteps," and "Gamblin' Willie's Dead Man's Hand". Dylan refused to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show on May 12, 1963 because CBS told him he could not sing "Talkin' John Birch Blues" In the lyrics to this song he says he became paranoid about communism so he joined the Birch Society and equates them to Nazis.
"Now we all agree with Hitlers' views
Although he killed six million Jews
It don't matter too much that he was a Fascist
At least you can't say he was a Communist"
This episode's title is a creative play on words as "rites" is a homonym with "rights. Hence "Animal Rites" sounds exactly like "Animal Rights",
