Both "Traffic Cam Caper" and "Bowl-R-Rama Drama" have truly great ideas that left me in absolutely no doubt on first watch that they would work and be executed very well. Decided recently to watch them back to back, along with other 'Phineas and Ferb' (watching re-runs every now and again has been one of my crutches recently) episodes, and there are episodes that have always been great and more and others that are even better on re-watches. Found both to be the case here.
Especially in the case of "Traffic Cam Caper", a fan favourite from my understanding and personally know many fellow fans in real life that consider it a top ten episode. Can totally understand why it is a fan favourite and in my view it is one of the best 'Phineas and Ferb' episodes in a show full of brilliant ones. But "Bowl-R-Rama Drama" should hardly be dismissed either, even if it isn't quite as brilliant, and worth it for the Doofenschmirtz subplot.
Animation is bright and colourful, with such vibrant colours that literally pop out at you and beautifully detailed backgrounds. Some of it in "Bowl-R-Rama Drama" is quite inventive, especially later on. The music is in the style that is not usually my style of choice when listening to music, but it is very catchy and pleasant to listen to. The theme song is irresistible with a melody that sticks in the head for days without being an earworm and with very quotable lyrics. Some nice visuals accompanying it too.
The writing is witty and is accessible for children and adults alike, nothing is simplistic here while still being easy to understand. Doofenschmirtz's "Dasvindaniya" line (Russian for goodbye and until the next meeting) is very witty and is just about tactful. The pace is lively and the formula still has freshness thanks to the imagination of what the boys get up to. Especially in "Traffic Cam Caper". Both episodes are non-stop fun, lifted by the lively energy and the chemistry between the characters, and very easy to like. Phineas and Ferb are very likeable characters and Candace is delightful in "Traffic Cam Caper" in one of her cleverer ways of trying to get Phineas and Ferb busted.
So is Perry the Platypus in a different slant to his usual subplot, involving a plot line that is part of "Traffic Cam Caper's" main plot. Norm the robot makes a bigger impression here than he did when he was first introduced and Doofenschmirtz is wonderfully nuts. Absolutely loved his subplot in "Bowl-R-Rma Drama", worth seeing for for example seeing him dressed as a penguin. Anything that involves penguins immediately has me sold, have always absolutely adored them. The voice acting is great.
In summary, brilliant. Particularly "Traffic Cam Caper". 10/10
