An Okay Short, Let Down Massively By Plot And Character Holes
dommercaldi26 June 2020
Pros: 1. The scaled-back cinematography does a great job at cementing a certain realistic feel to the short. 2. Both Morad Hassan (Daher) and Mouna Hawa (Azhar) give really good performances. 3. The pacing is incredibly smooth, and the short never outstays its welcome.

Cons: 1. The characters have nothing but sob-stories to them, which doesn't make them compelling at all. 2. Azhar illegally crosses the border into Israel just to plea for Daher to come back to Palestine. Not only does he rebuff her because he's gay (which is a little anti-climactic), but surely she could have written to him, or told Laila (Sana Jammelieh) to pass on a message? 3. As soon as Daher is confirmed as gay, Azhar's problems in regards to an arranged marriage, almost disappear from the conversation. 4. On a couple instances, Gil Weiss' (Uri) performance is a little wooden.
