"The worst thing you could be in his book was a liar"

Warning: Spoilers
A sadly unfocused episode, although it has some good moments. The undramatic offscreen death of Dan means we're dealing with a wake for a character that had already left and who didn't do anything for his last year on the show. The scene between Leah and Amanda is utterly brilliant, with Amanda's compassionate side coming out as she consoles her and leaving the viewer in no doubt that she's changed.Unlike Jazz, who comes close to trying to hijack the ceremony.Ryan's little speech is cute as well and even VJ has a few moments to shine.

Elsewhere, having had a rare good deed backfire on him spectacularly, Aden is reverting to type by sneering at everyone and hijacking the memorial even more than Jazz.Although his idea of a private memorial has merit, it's hard to gauge his sincerity, especially since his speech seems to be more about making a point to Annie than paying tribute to Dan.And any sympathy he's engendered pretty much evaporates when he starts behaving like an arrogant creep and barracking Martin for pointing out he's using Dan's death as an excuse to play truant. It's frustrating to see Irene and Geoff setting themselves up for a fall by believing Annie's story and the constant delay of Annie going to see Sally isn't helping.

The final few minutes see Ric and Matilda finally back together where they belong. It's been a long road but we're finally there and they're as cute as ever, with a simple but effective reunion scene and Ric's joking about sleeping in Lucas' old room.Shame there's a subtle cliffhanger to bring us back down to earth.
