10. The Walking Dead (2010–2022)
Opening up with the modern classic that revived the zombie apocalypse genre, The Walking Dead presents the least scary undead ever. Sure, there are many of them, but they are agonizingly slow, prone to decomposing and falling apart, dumb as rocks, easy to kill or capture, and ultimately don’t last for too long without feeding.
9. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Similarly to the walkers from our previous entry, Shaun of the Dead’s zombies aren’t exactly a menace. They’re almost as slow and stupid, but they have a little something going for them. Unlike Twd’s walkers, these zombies can distinguish the living by their sounds, not just blindly search for the noise source. Better stay quiet!
8. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)

Apocalypses in Canadian cinema tend to occur in slow motion, and have a subversive touch of quiet absurdity. The two undisputed classics of the genre are Don McKellar’s Last Night, and Bruce McDonald’s Pontypool. Caitlin Cronenberg aims for that lofty territory with her debut feature film, Humane. Set sometime in the near future, in late-stage climate crisis, citizens need solar umbrellas to go outside, and put protective film on the inside of their cars to keep the toxic sun out. Much of the world has collapsed into chaos, but Canada still limps along civilly, due to a government which has implemented a voluntary suicide programs called “Enlistment.” People can sign up to remove themselves from the population for a cash settlement that goes...

Aliens have arrived, and that may be just one of Kaitlyn Dever’s problems, in the new trailer for “No One Will Save You.” The sophomore effort from director Brian Duffield, whose “Spontaneous” was an unusually of-the-moment horror parable for kids growing up in an era of mass shootings and climate change, arrives on Hulu courtesy of 20th Century Studios on Sept. 22.
Dever stars as Brynn, who puts up a surprising amount of resistance when aliens show up on her doorstep. The trailer cleverly starts with a tease that the film will be a home invasion thriller before revealing that the invaders aren’t from our planet. We then get a montage of our heroine doing her best to fend off the intergalactic menace, including period details like a rotary telephone and what looks to be 1970s wardrobes.

Language is paramount in Pontypool, Bruce McDonald’s Canadian (don’t call it zombie) thriller. The film concerns a shock jock DJ and his pair of female colleagues who manage a radio station over the course of a morning as a word-based pathogen destroys the surrounding community.
Based on the book by Tony Burgess (who also wrote the screenplay), the film is a single location thriller that relies heavily on its small cast and mildly claustrophobic setting. Dialogue and audio flesh out not only the world and the looming threat; it also captures the power and impact of language.
It’s vital that Grant Mazzy (Canadian screen legend Stephen McHattie) is something of a disgrace at the beginning of the film. He’s only recently...

Valentine’s Day is upon us, and as we’re doing our annual rewatches of My Bloody Valentine (both versions—don’t skimp) or 2001’s Valentine, it’s important to remember that we have another holiday-appropriate horror movie to add to the fun. And it’s a film that happens to be celebrating its 15th birthday this year. Happy birthday to Pontypool, a zombie film that doesn’t get nearly enough attention, despite the fact that it brings a truly unique vision to the table.
Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2008, Pontypool is a zombie movie like no other. Like other recent favorites, it puts its own stamp on the material and creates something memorable. It rethinks the idea of what makes a zombie, taking the things we know and love about the mythology and bending them into a different form to create something unique, while still paying...

All good things must come to an end, which is why “The Walking Dead” viewers weren’t surprised when AMC announced the zombie apocalypse drama would conclude in 2022 after 11 seasons. The good news? There are still eight episodes left for fans to enjoy. The great news? The story of Daryl (Norman Reedus) will continue after the flagship “Twd” series walks off into the sunset. Previously the spin-off was supposed to center on Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride), but AMC announced on April 27, 2022 that McBride is “no longer able to participate” in the project because of filming logistics, as first reported by TV Line.
Here’s everything to know so far about “The Walking Dead” spin-off with Daryl (but no longer Carol). Bookmark this page as we’ll be updating when new information is revealed.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for AMC‘s Fear the Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 8, “Padre.”] No one’s gone ‘til they’re gone, and it turns out that Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) wasn’t gone. On Sunday night’s episode of Dead‘s aftershow Talking Dead, we learned Madison had not, in fact, perished at the Dell Diamond stadium way back in Season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead. Dickens is set to return to the zombie drama in Season 7 and star as a series regular in Season 8. And co-showrunner Ian Goldberg confirmed she’s alive — we’re not, say, getting a whole season of her daughter Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) hallucinating her mom as she super-slowly succumbs to the zombie virus. What a relief! But as thrilling as it is to have her back, we can’t help but wonder what she’s been up to for the past year or two. If we know one thing about Madison,...

On the aforementioned episode, Kim dropped the news fans have been waiting almost four years for.
Madison is back," Dickens declared, adding the following:
“We can confirm it, she’s alive.”
While the announcement came as a huge surprise to fans clamoring for more of the former lead after she was killed off-screen, the plan has been in place to bring her back for a while.
“I’ve had the secret, I think probably since this whole year," the star told the audience.
"The end of the last year, I get a text from Colman, who was on set, and it said, ‘Girl, you need to call me.’ So, I called him, and he was on set, and I said ‘Why, what’s going on?...

Fear the Walking Dead will soon grant a major wish fulfillment moment for its fans, having officially set the return of Kim Dickens as the show’s maternal demolisher of the dead, Madison Clark. Thus, a surreal reunion is imminent for Season 7B of a series that is nigh-unrecognizable from the era of the character’s controversially-ambiguous Season 4 exit. Interestingly, the plan was set way back in January, requiring Dickens to keep a stupendous secret for nearly a year.
Coming off Sunday’s airing of Fear the Walking Dead’s 7A midseason finale, AMC’s long-running post-show, Talking Dead, paid tribute to concluded spinoff The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and touted a mystery guest, who turned out to be a remote-appearing Kim Dickens. Madison Clark is back. Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed and Kim Dickens will return to AMC's hit zombie series. The apocalypse will go with Alicia's (Alycia Debnam-Carey) mother, who we all assumed had been dead since season four after she seemed to sacrifice herself in an explosion. During Talking Dead's Dec. 5 episode, which followed the series finale of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, it was revealed that Dickens is joining Fear the Walking Dead's seventh season when it returns on April 10 on AMC+ and April 17 on AMC. The announcement was made on “Talking Dead” following the series finale of “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.” Dickens will make her return to the series in the second half of Season 7, which debuts on April 10 on AMC Plus and April 17 on AMC. She will then appear as a series regular in Season 8. Dickens starred as Madison Clark in the series from Season 1-Season 4, with her character appearing to die by sacrificing herself in an explosion.
“If there were a Mt. Deadmore, Kim Dickens’ face would be on it,” said Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of “The Walking Dead” universe. “Madison Clark is a foundational character to Twdu — heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence. Madison Clark lives! During Sunday’s Talking Dead, not only was it revealed that Fear the Walking Dead had been renewed for Season 8, it was announced that Kim Dickens would be reprising her role of Alicia’s mother, who’s been thought to be dead since way back in Season 4. (Click here to read how she was believed to have expired.)
Given the way that the show’s original leading lady left the show — or at least her unstoppable character did — much fanfare surrounded her imminent return to the fold in the back half of Season 7. “If there were a Mt.

Just like 2020, there’s going to be a lot of the zombie apocalypse on the small screen this fall.
In a move reminiscent of last year’s Comic-Con@Home, The Walking Dead: World Beyond on Saturday unveiled the premiere date for its second and seemingly final season. The limited-series spinoff that follows the first generation raised in the post-apocalyptic world will return to AMC on October 3.
Along with that debut date, World Beyond during its virtual panel today rolled out a clip from the 10-episode second season of the Scott M. Gimple- and Matt Negrete-created show — and things have gotten bloody, to say the least:
EPs Gimple and Negrete were both on the pre-recorded World Beyond panel this afternoon, joined by cast members Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru, Julia Ormond, Jelani Alladin and Joe Holt.

"Walking Dead: World Beyond" is proving to be a key piece of the expanding "Walking Dead" universe, thanks to the focus that the spinoff has put on the mysterious Civic Republic, which has only appeared on the fringes of the other shows in the franchise. And now we know when we'll get to see more of Iris (Aliyah Royale) and Hope's (Alexa Mansour) struggle to try to free their dad from the Crm's clutches: October 3 on AMC, and earlier for AMC+ subscribers.
The news came out of the "World Beyond" panel during Comic-Con@Home, where we also got our first look at the new season. "Walking Dead" universe boss Scott M. Gimple also said the premiere will be followed by an episode of "Talking Dead," which is usually reserved for the main series. "Fear the Walking Dead" will also get a "Talking Dead" episode after its Season 7 premiere.

Season 6 of "Fear the Walking Dead" left our heroes in a pretty messed up situation even by the standards of the famously brutal franchise, thanks to a doomsday cult that managed to fire off a nuclear warhead that exploded at the end of the finale. Now we know when we'll get to see the fallout, both nuclear and otherwise, in the Season 7 premiere: October 17 on AMC, with an early release for AMC+ subscribers.
That news came courtesy of the "Fear the Walking Dead" panel during Comic-Con@Home, moderated by "Talking Dead" host Chris Hardwick, where AMC also gave us a pair of clips from season 7, which you can see below.
You can watch the full panel for yourself right here.
The first clip catches up with Morgan (Lennie James) and Grace (Karen David), who have been using the beached nuclear sub for shelter with their newly adopted baby.

AMC Networks has reached a $200 million settlement deal with Frank Darabont and CAA in the long-running profit participation lawsuit over “The Walking Dead.”
The deal calls for AMC Networks to pay Darabont and CAA a total of $200 million. They will continue to receive a share of future profits from streaming deals tied to “The Walking Dead” and spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead.” But for all other “Walking Dead”-related content, the settlement buys out the plaintiffs’ rights.
AMC Networks disclosed the settlement in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Friday. Representatives for Darabont and CAA declined to comment. AMC Networks did not elaborate beyond the SEC filing. AMC had to disclose the payment because it will essentially wipe out the company’s free cash flow for 2021, a big change from the $200 million that AMC executives forecast for full-year 2021 to Wall Street analysts during an earnings call in May.

After being forced to enter a hiatus earlier than planned due to Covid-19, we finally have a return date for Fear the Walking Dead.
AMC announced today that the second half of Fear the Walking Dead 6, featuring nine all-new episodes, will return on Sunday, April 11 at 9 pm/8c.
A new episode of Talking Dead will air later that evening, which probably means something huge is about to go down.
The talk-show spinoff typically airs after the episodes that feature the biggest drama, and given the way Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 7 ended, we're inclined to believe the drama will be off the rails for our characters as they navigate uncharted waters.
As has been the norm for a while now, new episodes of Fear the Walking Dead will also be available early on AMC+ each week.

We’ve had Daryl Dixon on our screens for nearly a decade, but there’s still something that The Walking Dead has yet to explore: his love life. Norman Reedus’ character has had a few potential romantic interests over the years, but nothing has actually developed with any of them. We’ve been promised that the show could be about to finally dive into the question of Daryl’s sexuality in its next batch of episodes, though, coming in early 2021. And when this happens, it may bring about a surprising development.

Specifically, it’s being said that this is something that the producers of the long-running AMC series are keen to explore. We don’t know to what extent this would be depicted – whether it’s...

SAG-AFTRA has won an arbitration and confidential settlement with the producers of The Walking Dead over compensation due to stunt performers for the reuse of clips from the show in which they appeared. Some of those stunt personnel are unidentifiable in the clips, however, and the union is asking the stunt community for help in identifying them so that they can be paid.
SAG-AFTRA and the show’s producer reached the confidential settlement agreement based on an audit of scenes reused in the “In Memoriam” segment of Talking Dead from February 29, 2016, through the present. The union says its auditors discovered and reviewed reused clips that contained identifiable stunts and performers, noting that all of the stunt performers identified in the clips are being compensated at their day pay rates plus late payments for each clip. With The Walking Dead season 10 finale finally behind us, the show’s end is, well, maybe not nigh just yet, but it’s kind of on the way. We now have 30 episodes left to go across 2021 and 2022 before the groundbreaking post-apocalyptic drama comes to a close and while the series has had its ups and downs over the years, it’s certainly found its groove again recently. And star Norman Reedus hopes that it can go out on a high with its jumbo-sized eleventh season.
While speaking on Sunday’s episode of Talking Dead, the Daryl Dixon actor revealed that he’s “feeling anxious” about Twd ending but he’s got his fingers crossed that the team can manage to deliver a conclusion that will “swing for the fences” and not just rest on its laurels. As Reedus puts it, he hopes the cast and crew “frickin’ nail it.”

Unlike previous crossovers such as My Little Pony and Godzilla, however, these particular cards are neither silver-bordered (denoting their status as non-tournament legal) or alternate art variants of existing cards, as was the case with the latter in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths.
Instead, those so far revealed, which feature several characters from the show including Michonne, Negan and Glenn, all have unique abilities to call their own. While all three are legal in formats such as Commander, none are overtly strong or even meta-defining,...

Nearly a decade after the first show premiered, the “Walking Dead” franchise is far from dead.
Expanding beyond the world of the comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman, there are three shows set in the “Walking Dead” universe on the air, with the new one, “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” set to debut Oct. 4 on AMC following the long-delayed Season 10 episode of “The Walking Dead,” which had been set as the finale until AMC decided to add more episodes to the season.
There is also the popular after-show “Talking Dead,” hosted by Chris Hardwick. Beyond that, the franchise now includes mobile games, toys and other merchandise, as well as upcoming feature films starring “Walking Dead” mainstay Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, originally supposed to start production in 2019 but still in “very active development,” per AMC Networks chief operating officer Ed Carroll.
