Dumb

How is that when they get off the boat, and start walking they have nothing. But as t continue to 🚶 all the of a guilty one guy is carrying a basket, and the o one a duffel bag. They did not go back to the boat. This was really stupid. Also, where Shelly got bit you can see the lake bottom. So if something big as a mermaid was there you'd definitely see it.

Not even weird, just . . . bad.

Warning: Spoilers
I read the reviews before I watched the movie and thought I could offer some sort of redeeming quality to it. So I watched it, and I would love to say that this was one of the better-made movies of 2020, if only because Fonzie once said, "Bull makes the world go 'round," but unfortunately, I am too honest for that. Try as I might, I could not find any redeeming qualities about this movie.

SPOILER: One thing that might have helped was if the old lady had offered an explanation for wanting to kill Amy or for having to shooting herself, but she didn't, leaving the others shocked and with no way to even GET a clue about what was happening. Her son was no big help, either. He had about the best line in the whole film, though -- something about having to go fishing.

There was not a whole lot of emotion in the actors' acting, regardless of the obscene amount of profanity. The many awkward silences made me wonder if the actors had even bothered memorizing their lines. I enjoy a good B movie, but not this one.

It was almost like a half-baked movie idea taken from a scary preteen-camp story that the writer did not think through enough and the actors deliberately wanted to sabotage. Really, I think a better B movie than this would be the backstory behind the making of it. For it to be done this horribly, there must have been some drama between the two different sides of the camera.

Not so great

If this is a student film I would say they gave it a really good try. I have seen much worse movies that are way more expensive. Their is some decent photography and some really good SPF/X especially the mermaid outfit.

If they edited it down to a shorter film it would be more enjoyable I think.

It looks like it was filmed in Canada for some reason probably because of the backdrop.

The sound effects don't match up very well, and the music goes on way to long at points too.

Obviously the producers did put a lot of time into making this film so I say give the kids a break.

So give the kids a break.

Horrible acting. This movie made no sense, but it is a B movie beyond the B. Colin Kaepernick looks so young and different in this movie. I can't even be serious about this film because this film wasn't serious to begin with.

Worse movie ever made!! Really 1/2 star, being generous

Acting horrendous, I wanted to give it the benifit of the doubt, kept hoping. But it just got more and more painful. No rhyme or reason, Just spectacularly, ridiculously dumb, boring and useless. No spoilers, cause there's nothing to spoil, no moments of anticipation....just like what it would be to watch paint dry.

Avoid, DO NOT WATCH, complete and utter dog pooh
samhulme-383573 June 2021
My god where do I start? Acting was appalling, the movie made no sense, ended without any explanation, only got back story from clippings at the beginning and end. The story had the potential for a good movie but the directing, acting and shooting of the film destroyed any chance of that. What utter and complete waste of time and quite frankly really shocking and not in a good way.

I've know I've said this once, but I'll say it again, 'Dumb characters does not make a movie scary!

Warning: Spoilers
(2000) Mermaid's Isle HORROR

Cinematography, edited, written and directed by Jason Mills that has Roy (Samuel Buchanon) driving his boat of his three friends to a somewhat of a secluded island, only then so that one his friends, Toby (Mark Reinhardt) will propose to his girlfriend Amy (Kristina Soroff). Meanwhile, Roy accidentally shoves his friend, goth-looking, Shelly (Kiana Passmore) into the lake after she splashes some water on him. Only then Shelly gets bitten before it scoots away. All this was happening as a result of not be able to see a sign to warn people to stay out of the lake. Because Shelly's condition had worsened, instead of carrying her back to the boat, they then take her to a cabin, spotted around the other side of the lake. Only then as soon as they went in, they are then confronted with an erratic old lady, instructing them to kill Shelly.

I've know I've said this once, but I'll say it again, 'Dumb characters does not make a movie scary!", as the characters barge into the old lady's home to bring injured Shelly in, the old lady who lives around the area first tells them to stay away from the lake, but does any of the characters "listen" despite articles around the house that had said that too? The Answer is "no". When Toby's girlfriend, Amy sees a necklace just lying on a rock surrounded by water, that she must step into the water to retrieve it. That despite Roy was still in the water, he instead tells his friend Toby to go and help Amy despite her stupidity of stepping into the water to retrieve the necklace her friend, Shelly turned into a vicious mermaid. How can viewers feel sympathy to dumb characters who refuse to listen nor believe what they heard and read! And it's like, while Toby abandons his friend Roy who fell into the lake, he still tells him to go and help Amy even though it was already too late, and was bitten the same way as Shelly did. And as a result of leaving Roy in the water, he too gets captured by the mermaid. And one of the most baffling scenes in the movie was when goth girl, Shelly was first bitten, and it's like, she was still bitten while standing on a feet of water, resulting to asking the question how small was this this thing that bit her, as we all know mermaids are bigger than a foot of water! And what was it that bit her With dumb characters making it into a dumb movie, they all deserved to die the way that they did. And the final ten minutes was as dumb as the movie itself, as it jumps four moths later and it's winter, and this time showcases a teenager named Matt conversing with his dad using a walkie-talkie along with his friend looking for his mom, leaving viewers with ambiguous questions such as how the mom got bitten if the weather is like winter and so forth!

Bomb.
