Parallel Worlds are very much in fashion at the moment.
There are dramas such as FlashForward and Paradox on TV while, on the big screen, the latest Star Trek movie created an alternative universe through time travel.
So sci-fi thriller Triple Hit has come along at just the right time.
And yet it still manages to seem refreshingly different. I can't recall a series or movie where there were three incarnations of the same person existing on wildly different versions of Earth.
The film was made by Leamington-based Entanglement Productions and won third place in the Best Film Category at the recent Institute of Videography awards, held at Coventry's Ricoh Arena. It was then screened at the first Falstaff International Film Festival in Stratford-on-Avon.
Triple Hit's writer and director Huw Bowen (pictured right) said: "The film festival was a lot of fun, and we won another award - Special Mention for Best Visual Effects,...

Leamington Spa film company Entanglement Productions has won third place in the Best Film category of the Iov (Institute of Videography) awards with its sci-fi thriller Triple Hit.
The film's writer/producer/director Huw Bowen is pictured below receving the award from Iov's Chris Waterlow and former Tomorrow's World star Maggie Philbin in an Oscars-style ceremony at the Iov Annual Convention, held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
Triple Hit was one of only five short-listed titles within the Best Film category. Judges were looking for exceptional video production standards, originality and creative flair.
The film is among the 150-plus movies being screened this week at the first Falstaff International Film Festival in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire.
The film - previously called Schrodinger's Girl - centres on Rebecca Hunter, a disgraced scientist conducting research into alternate universes. She discovers a way to travel between realities and then finds her parallel-world counterparts have...

If we're to believe their own legend, Matt and Vince are two trained neurosurgeons who couldn't find work so started making short comedy films. Well whatever their background is, they are seemingly steeped in knowledge about genre films and appear to approach their work in the same satirical yet loving way that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have always done (first in television with Spaced, and then onto features with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz).
Their new short is called Arthur's Lore and it's chock full of photographic talent. Here's what it's about:
Arthur is as surprised as anyone to learn he's the reincarnation of King Arthur - but there's no time to contemplate as the forces of dark lore are active once again and only one person can stop them.
It's hard to tell if the comedy is as well timed as the photography and special FX...

Schrödinger's Girl is a fairly low-budget British sci-fi film concerning a young female scientist called Rebecca, fired from her job at a university and working in contemporary London with her faithful assistant Matt and flirty equipment connection Dave, in an attempt to prove the existence of parallel worlds. Meanwhile in one of said other worlds there's her double, Sarah, using the far more legitimate and futuristic bio-computers that her advanced parallel world, The United Nations sector of Western Europe, has to offer. To further complicate things Anastasia, another version of Rebecca, is trying the same thing in the Republic of Great Britain, a savage parallel world run under a brutal communist regime, complete with statues of Joseph Stalin and scary propaganda. Anastasia uses pretty low-tech methods that involve unsettling human experiments and lots of gore.

We've been following this micro-budget scifi flick out of the UK for some time now and even brought you some exclusive stills back in October. We just got the heads up from director Huw Bowen that the first 10 minutes of the film is online for your enjoyment, and while it's still in post which means it's not completed, you can still get a good feel for where the films heading, parallel universes and all. Now if only we could get them to do a series like Sliders...
The film is about Rebecca, a disgraced scientist conducting research into alternate universes. She discovers a way to travel between universes and then finds that her parallel-world counterparts have their own agendas.
First 10 minutes after the break!

Yup! She can even walk through walls. The UK has been putting out some great micro-budget films lately and this looks like no exception. We've been following it for a while, including posting the early trailer sans fx, and the more I see of this, the more I like it. Director Huw Bowen got in touch with us to let us know the film should be done by the end of October (I can't wait to see it), and to pass along some stills (with fx) as they're deep in post right now. New trailer coming soon!
