White Out's principal shooting took place the winter of 2006-07 in the Chicago suburbs. After a very early season heavy snow fall, the Chicago area saw no snow for months, concerning the producers of the movie, who were afraid that there wouldn't be a substantial enough snowfall to film for use in the movie.
"One Little Thing", the flashback sequence that reveals an important plot point involving two of the film's characters, was not in the early drafts of the script. It was later written and filmed as an exercise for the cast and crew. The complete uncut version of this scene can be found on the White Out's DVD of Extras.
Do to the nature of the material, the film was shot almost entirely in sequential order using two DVX 100B's.
The cast met for weekly rehearsals from August to mid December.
Many of Andy Wolcienski's (Eric Lipe) lines were taken from improvisations during the rehearsal process.
