John Singleton would be proud, this was a satisfying conclusion to Snowfall's incredible 4th season
I have followed Snowfall since it first premiered and this will be my first review. But I want to start off with saying that this season have been absolutely brilliant, John Singleton would have been happy if he could have been able to witness and watch this season, its some of the best drama that Snowfall have to offer but it wouldn't have been possible if not for the previous seasons that ultimately have been building towards this season finale, but it isn't the end for the show.
Carl Seaton directed the season 4 finale and its a spectacular hour of crime drama. Dave Adron, one of the show's creators wrote the episode which is titled "Fight or Flight". The storytelling is truly impressive and overall amazing, the writing have been on a constant high and I'm glad the quality haven't dropped in this season. It's been strong episodes that tackle numerous of themes and topics plus the emotional impact and effects that those have. The cinematography and direction continues to be excellent.
Franklin have been the major focus of Snowfall and rightfully so, he's in a way the heart of the show, seeing him develop from a normal teenager to a ruthless criminal mastermind have been... Impressive and entertaining, mostly impressive in terms of storytelling. They went the long route and I'm glad they didn't cut any corners with character development for him or the other characters, the cast is massive sure but the variety of well written and likeable characters is why it works.
The performance of Damson Idris as Franklin Saint have been perfect but in this episode, he steals every single scene and honestly does some award worthy acting in this episode, whole season too. Other notable actors that deserve praise is Carter Hudson, Kevin Carroll and Michael Hyatt. Truly outstanding performances.
This season finale manages to tie up a lot of story and character arcs that have been going on since the first season. It was a satisfying experience and conclusion to those story arcs, but it isn't the end, Snowfall have lots more to offer. I don't want to spoil anything in this review other than it was an incredible episode and season, season 5 will hopefully be out in 2022 and I can't wait.
