Sex & Nudity

  • A couple of sexual references. No sex or nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • A man's wrist is snapped, exposing his bones. He is then stabbed in the neck with his own bones. Very graphic.
  • Characters are dismembered and are graphically killed with chainsaws, knives, broken glass, sledgehammers, and blunt instruments.
  • Characters are slit in half by chainsaws.
  • People in a bus are butchered and brutalized with a chainsaw, with many of them being gorily slashed, impaled, cut into pieces and bisected with copious of blood and gore spraying. A woman is cut in half, with her intestines spilling out.
  • A man has his leg broken in a grotesque fashion. He then gets shoved into a broken glass shard, hitting his neck. Blood pours heavily. His head is then smashed to pieces with a sledge hammer, spraying brains and blood everywhere. This scene is extremely graphic.
  • A dead woman has her face removed.
  • A man is attacked with a butcher knife. He is seen struggling on the floor gurgling and bleeding out. We later see him with his cheek fully sliced open and flopping around while he chokes to death. Very graphic.
  • A woman has her face cut off. We don't see it happen but later see her skinned face close up for a few seconds.
  • A girl has her stomach carved with a piece of broken glass while being choked. Very disturbing scene, she is audibly struggling to breathe and the cutting sounds are graphic.
  • A man gets shot in the neck and crashes a van. Later he gets his head bashed in by a oxygen tank. He is covered in blood and struggles to breathe.
  • Much more violent and gory than the previous movies in the franchise. Almost all the violence is onscreen.
  • Not so much more violent than other 2020 violent horror movies. People tend to base this kind of perceptions on that it is either a special kind of movie, like being directed by Quentin Tarantino. Or like in this case, being a horror movie about a crazy guy killing people with a chainsaw.

Profanity

  • About 27 uses of "fuck" and 11 uses of "shit"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • People smoking cigarettes and drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Visual references to past school shootings. Dead children are seen lying on the floor during a flashback.
  • The ending contains surprises and jumps with the music.
  • Leatherface murders many people onscreen in gruesome and gory detail.
  • The bus massacre is a grueling experience with incredible amounts of bloodshed and a very tense atmosphere. It's made even more brutal by the fact that it is intercut with a flashback from a fictional school shooting. It doesn't compare to the bleak and tense atmosphere of the original, but it is still extremely bloody and over-the-top with its gore and intensity. Could be too much to watch for some lighthearted audience members.
