In a city where power is king, the Potomac area, just north of the national's capitol, is where the creme de la creme live. Like most exclusive areas, there is a constant battle to keep it like it is; to resist overcrowding. That's understandable, although City Confidential doesn't seem to understand that.
This particular episode, an addition to giving us the lowdown on the power brokers of the area and showing us a good number of incredible mansions, puts its focus mainly on one woman - a ruthless female who wanted political power and would do anything to get it and would make those pay who opposed her. No, it's not Hillary Clinton, but a woman named Ruthann Aron, who caused quite a stir in the area in the late 1990s.
City Confidential does a real hatchet job on this woman, painting her as "cutthroat" real estate speculator and wannabe-Senator. In the mix is another odd character, Billy Mossberg. He is portrayed fairly but, if you can read between the lines, is another odd character. Also in the mix is a someone similar to Arron: a lawyer, the kind of one which helps inspire lawyer jokes. He opposed Aron and wasn't any nicer. We also have Ruthann's husband, who is spoken of in gentlemanly terms.....until the end when we find out he wasn't a guy on the up-and-up, either.
In other words, this all sounds like the dirty world of politics.....just what the Potomac area loves. Who sued whom, and whom wanted to kill whom (nobody was ever injured in this crime) and all the other "dirty little secrets" are revealed in this episode, chock full of the juicy sins of a well-do-to neighborhood City Confidential loves to unmask. The "charge" in this crime is "solicitation of murder." Yes, Ruthann wanted power and was a poor loser.
