Diabetic Ketoacidosis(DKA) is not brought on by a low blood sugar it is a caused by high blood sugar and would indeed call for insulin therapy. However in the show the patient tests at 25 which would actually be hypoglycemic and would make what the patient presents with be hypoglycemic shock, or extreme low blood sugar. Proper treatment would involve rapid infusion of glucose either through IV or through a glucagon shot kit.
